... Many people believe that the best relationships start out as friendships. What are your thoughts on that?

in my 2 best relationships we started out dating and grew to be best friends. having a girlfriend who is also my best friend is great.

I don't think it depends much on the individual(s) and situations. Then again I am 34 and still single so I can say I really don't have the answers but that's my opinion.

Which is why I'm currently only looking for friends to share recipes with...err...of potatoes, yes, that's it...recipes of potatoes...

Definitely, friendship is the foundation on which any good relationship should be based upon. If the foundation isn't there, it isn't likely to work.

So... this is exactly why meeting anyone in a bar, or having sex right away, or giving or recieving pickup lines won't work. We need to get to know each-other as PEOPLE, as friends. THEN maybe things can go forward.

most of mine started out like that,friends first, and yet i'm still single...hmmmm..maybe i need to change it a bit

I suppose mine started as friends. I either went to school with them, or met them, or knew who they were. If it was to be a relationship it would go ahead and move into that. Friends just stay in the friend category.
