I was invited to a guy's house for pizza last week and did go but was REALLY nervous. To make things worse, he and his 3 y/o grandson had eaten before I got there (so I ate by myself - great!!). We got along okay, had talked on the phone, have a similar sense of humor. He is raising his grandson (found out he is autistic) and I took him a couple of little toys. Grandson came right up to me and climbed up in my lap and sat there for quite some time. Seemed to go okay. |

But in my case, that's not just a fear or something that makes me nervous...it's actually happened more times than I care to count. me too. i have FOOT IN MOUTH syndrome :P I don't really have that problem. It's just that I wind up saying odd stuff that makes them think I am some kind of freak or something. The filter between my brain and my mouth malfunctioned a long time ago, so whatever pops into my head, usually flies past my lips before I can stop it. 99% of the time it's something funny..but there are times when they just don't get the joke and then they just turn away and make a dash for their friends. |

My biggest worry is far from the meeting the parents, but the topics that come up during conversation. Has anyone been in a position where your date asked a question that left you silent due to a past experences? Not sure what you mean by past experiences? Do you mean that the date asks about something you'd rather not talk about, or that you're afraid to answer due to past reactions when you did answer that question? yes and both. |

When you went on a date before, or if you'd go on a date now, what would be the thing that would make you nervous and uncomfortable? nervous...nothing. being nervous seems illogical to me. uncomfortable...if the chair is hard and my butt starts hurting. that's no fun. another uncomfortable...if she's going on and on about dogs. |
