Topic: Nice guyism | |
---|---|
I read this morning on a post I started last night, in which I admitted to being a nice guy, that I might as well hand in my jockstrap for admitting to be a nice guy by one, and that nice guys are clingy, whiny, and move too fast by another. Please consider my rebuttal. To me the difference between a nice guy and a jerk boil down to this. A jerk is an opportunist, meaning he'll tell you what you want to hear to get you into bed, whereas a nice guy could take it or leave it depending on how into you he is. A jerk will sleep with your best friend the first chance he gets and joke about it with his friends because he thinks it proves that he is a superior specimen, where a nice guy will not, because he knows it is not right. A jerk does not think about how his actions will affect those around him, where a nice guy constantly keeps this in mind. Some more things that make me a nice guy are that I'm nice to old people, children and animals, and I don't cut people off in traffic.
Something that requires with no room for leeway, I believe, for me to be a nice guy, is the fact that I'm a real hippie, not a gutter punk in hippie feathers. I also believe that anyone who would choose to be a jerk when they have the ability to be a good person is just as shallow and immature as the women who would choose a jerk over someone who strives to be a good person because they mistakingly think that nice guys have no cahonas and are therefore less sexy. Taking an advantage of someone through deceit, to me at least, is the greatest testiment that you are not a real man, and any woman that sees this horrific trait to be sexy is too unintelligent to be worth my time. Those are just my thoughts on the subject however, I would love to hear some of yours. |

Talk is cheap. Why should any woman believe you are a "nice guy?" Fact is, almost every man who claims he is a nice guy is not. That is why people around here b!tch slap self-proclaimed nice guys.

Just saying you are a nice guy does not mean it is so...

So you strive to be a dick?

And in all fairness I've my moments like anyone else where I looked back and felt like a jerk, but what I'm talking about is principles.

So you strive to be a dick? *shrug* He's right, though. A nice guy is proven through actions, not words. Can't tell you how many times I've heard how "nice" a guy is, only to have it proven false later. I'm not saying you're not a nice guy, as I don't know you. Just saying that "I'm a nice guy" seems to have replaced "I'm going off to war" as the line that is used to get some action. |

Nobody want's to listen to a whiny, self proclaimed "nice guy". It's been waaaaaaaaaaay over done. You keep it up and, they'll run ya off.

If you are truly a nice guy why do you feel the need to sooo defend your niceness? Nice counts! Actually to me it counts a lot. If you are also a GOOD listener, decent looking,(beauty being in the eye...),have something other than nice to bring into the relationship then you should be fine in your own skin. We must each be comfortable with who we are in order to find comfort, friendship, love with another.
If you are a creep claiming 'nice' then shame on you! |

Whatever, you dont offend me. I dont think its a bad thing to try to be nice.

Nice guys do not finish last, bad guys do not finish last...everyone finishes where they put themselves. Which in turn means that people posting "nice guys finish last" type posts, actually in turn, put themselves last.
Welcome to the back of the line. |
