be my guest. i have a bag of poison for them but can't put it down until rain is out of the forcast.

it's insane how fast they are. i counted over 50 bites on one foot and the other has more, and that's after only a few seconds. in elementary school a friend fell on a mound and was bitten so many times in under a minute that she nearly died.

I say take a blow torch to them, or maybe just blow them up? pitchfork

it's pretty impressive how huge their underground network can be. kill one mound and there's another just as big a day later.

It's easy to get rid of them little buggers. Poke a hole down the center of the mound and pour club soda in it. The fumes will sink to the bottom and displace the oxygen in the nest, sufficating all including the queen.

i tried the club soda thing last year and it did take out a few mounds, but no luck long-term. probably because my neighbors don't treat their yard at all. then every time the guy mows the lawn he gets bitten by a bunch of them, blows them all over himself with the mower and runs around like kermit the frog on crack trying to wash them off under the spigot.

i have 2 bags of amdro (one broadcast and one spot treatment). i know it works pretty well i'm waiting for the weather to cooperate.

are you referring to CGM (corn gluten meal)? i've heard that's a good natural fertilizer. i've wanted to try it on my lawn. the grass can use all the help it can get during the summers here.

AH, down here in the south we just call it self risin corn meal. Ya make cornbread, hush puppies, bread catfish with it, etc, etc, but because it's self risin when they take it down into the nest to eat an feed the queen with, they explode includin the queen. To really make it work an last, u need to do this several times an make sure u get every mound. It's not harmful to pets so u don't have to worry about ur dog or other animals bein accidentally poisoned. It's also inexpensive.shades

cool. sounds like something different than cgm...it's far from cheap from what i've seen. i may give that a try before i declare chemical warfare for another year. if there was a dog in my yard he'd be about as welcome as the ants. ha.

I dont know if this works on fire ants, but it does a fine job on other kinds of ants here in Ohio.

20 Mule Team Borax sprinkled over the area.

(1) Find the depth of the queen corresponding to your soul type.

(2) Push a pipe down to that depth that's the width of...

(3) Your 4th of July {U.S.A} fireworks, which you light, drop down the hole and...

(4) Run!

Note: as my brother found out, you should be completely certain that there are no trees above your new firework pit. Did I mention that you should run?
