I think when someone chooses to be in the public eye they sort of exchange their Privacy Card for a $$$Card and set themselves up for comments from everybody whether they do a crummy performance, get married, late with their taxes, break the law or drop dead.

Now that's not cool.. The death of most anyone is unfortunate (exempting child molesters, rapists and sociopathic killers and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few)... It's not cool to make fun of it, we should treat and respect others as we'd want to be treated and respected... in view of recent events |

When I heard the 911 call on the radio yesterday morning, I was completely horrified for his wife and family. I couldn't image my own reaction to trying to wake up my husband to find him dead. Sometimes, no matter the 'who, what, where, when or why' about a persons life, it is only secondary to the fact that they passed away and the aftermath for family and friends.
Regards if you didn't like the person, at least have some respect for the survivors. |

That is exactly it Tanya. We've probably all thought at one time, gosh he's loud. I know I have. But holy cow. What I have witnessed on the boards in the last almost week now, has just horrified me. Horrifies me at the thought of Ever mentioning my loss again. I do it as little as I can and only in times when I think something might be useful. Horrifies me at the jokes that could be said behind the scenes, (or not) if something were to happen to one of us.

He did this show called "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel with Anthony Sullivan, the annoying British guy that does infomercials. Yes, I thought Billy Mays was a loud weirdo and turned down the TV every time he came on. But the show kind of provided a look into his life and what he did...which was basically promoting products that people brought into his office with hopes of making it big. If he liked the product and thought it had potential, he'd go for it. Many people got rich and are living the American Dream because of him....inventing a product and having Billy Mays as your pitchman on TV was pretty much a homerun.
Really, the show made me kind of like him. He was really only half as annoying as he made himself out to be in his infomercials...it's what he did best. Pitching products while waking up people from their naps on the couch. He was a pro. The Discovery Channel show changed my mind about him...he was human after all, not just a yelling clown puppet on TV. I'm going to miss him and I feel sad for his family. His adult son made an appearance on the show..he was just getting started producing infomercials of his own, only behind the cameras. |
