hmmmmmm, well I'm not sure if there are any hotels in the actual Maupin city, which has a population of well are we counting sheep???
But you'd still have to fly into Portland |

Yeah. You'd have to fly into Portland Int'l Airport and drive the rest of the way. That is unless you tried to drive the whole way there, which you CAN do but will just take more time.
Just be aware of the "Sisques" on the border between Oregon and California- those things will drive you NUTS!!! |

Yeah I just looked for a hotel there it said "try a real place"
I guess I'll have to google it and see what's close and rent a car too

Well, I'm trying to think, if you're wanting something more than just a truck stop, I'd think Hood River or The Dalles would be the closest larger size cities with hotels?

According to Google Earth, Maupin isn't all that far away from Welches. There are a couple of pretty decent hotels out there (I should know, as I stayed in one of them).
You might also be able to swing a room in the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, too. Now THAT'S a cool place to check out.

hmmmmm, guess it depends on when everyone else is getting there, I wasn't sure if you'd get to make it or not but I'd rather enjoy the weekend if possible
