Topic: Wheres the JUICE ??? | |
---|---|
:grumbling: So early this morning sever t-storms knocked out the power here. I called the electric company. They said they were coming right out. That was hours ago. I was under the impression that those on life support were first priority. Appearently not! There are at least 2 people on O2 here in this mobilehome park. We have back up tanks- but they won't last forever. It is also hot and humid. I need the AC! Also need to run my nebulizer. Wow looks like I invest in a generator in the near future. I feel bad for the elderly and bed ridden. Rant over... Anyone know how long Frig and freezer food is safe for???

Freezer food can be good for up to 12 hours just keep it closed as much as possible, fridge food...depends on what it is, but can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours. Aside from that, aren't you glad you pay taxes? |

Sorry to hear about your troubles this morning..
![]() The more the fridge or freezer is opened, the faster the food will spoil, of course. If you get power back soon, I'd say just toss any dairy out. |

A couple of weeks ago we had thousands of people without electricity here in the Dallas area. I wondered how those who MUST have electric handled that. It was two days for some folks to get their electricity back.
Then, some snobs interviewed on the news got lambasted for going on about how the poor rich dears had to go without electric. OMG!! Whoever interviewed them either wasn't thinking or they knew viewers would be pissed at their snooty comments. For heaven's sake!! There were TORNADOS doing that damage. Duh!! They take out electricity every time!! I hope yours gets back on SOON, for everyone's sake. |

Depends upon the food.
Freezers are insulated, so the icy temperatures will hold longer than in the fridge. If the ice cubes are still frozen, then everything else is fine. But don't risk meat or chicken. Milk, of course can spoil easily. Apples don't require refrigeration, neither does mustard. The fridge/freezer can keep things well as long as you limit the number of times you open the door (reduce the cold temperature). |

I can practically keep my house air conditioned looking in it so often and for long periods of time, making real damn sure there's nothing new in there. |
