I would suspect that what it means varies with what part of the country you reside.

My point in this thread was not so much that I consider those who post pictures like this immature. It was more of trying to understand what someone thinks they are accomplishing.

A woman who posts a closeup of herself giving the camera the finger while glaring at the camera all tough. She trying to show what a tough chick she is and not to mess with her? She trying to show how cool she is. Really, what is the point trying to be made?

Yes, those types of pictures are immature. At least they show that upfront.

Comparing someone with a picture wearing sunglasses to someone giving the finger doesn't really work.. as they just don't compare.
