Topic: Ohioans ticketed for parking in own driveways | |

what I have heard is many HOA's facing their water and other utilities being cut off as members do not pay their fees and Prop Mgrs are unable to pay their debts.

hey keep in mind that your neighbors or neighboring properties do affect your property value. regardless of whether you have the prettiest privacy fence or not. It does affect property values big time! I just called the city because a house near me had grass over 2 ft. tall. Nobody lives there right now. It looks awful and promotes skeeters and fleas. My child was embarrassed about it when a classmate brought them home from an activity. |

Part of my bus. is Lawn Care and Trash removal. In the city I just moved from they have an ordinance. Grass cannot exceed 1' high or the city will fine them $250.00. I got lots of calls to clear yards. I think more cities should make more laws restricting what you can have in yards. Unsightly yard ornaments, too tall hedges, etc. P.S., I live in the country, county. can do pretty much what I want there. This far south the county neighborhoods are called colonials and if you want to build and addition, you are only required to get a building permit if you intend on putting in more water or sewerage lines. No codes on building, otherwise. I like codes. They protect me when the contractor isn't up to par. I happened to me recently. |

And people still think this is a free country... Just wait and watch 'em when Socialism really comes to their front door. Considering many (if not most) socialists are anarchists... Ya, no. You're thinking of fascism and getting confused by too much Fox. Pro tip, Fox NEVER uses dictionary definitions. NEVER trust them when they start throwing words like socialism or conservatism around. ![]() |

How is that a social stigma? Also, fleas start showing up and skeeters. Mice like it in there too. |

Have heard of this happening where there is a home owners assoc., a homeowner took his HOA to court and lost. He'd purchased a pick up - worked on it for years, finally turned it into one of those monster trucks - large wheels etc. The board voted and he lost his bid to park his vehicle on his driveway, he took them to court and lost!!! That sucks Those Home owners associations are monsters. The people moving there do not realize how much power they give them over their property until a dispute happens. But they will usually win because you agreed to let them do this to you when you moved into the neighborhood. As for these tickets, I think is is bull **** and I hope the people do fight it. Now if it was a homeowners association that did it they probably would have no way of winning but if it is just the city, they may have a chance and they could set precedence for the next time the city gets a hair up their butt. |

agreed Dragonness - as per OP
City Councilman D. Michael Collins calls the ticketing "Mickey Mouse nonsense." He has told residents he'll try to have the citations rescinded.

from opening post Mayor Carty Finkbeiner (FINK'-by-ner) says he stands by the citations handed out last week by the Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor. He says the tickets were issued under a city law against parking on unpaved surfaces, including gravel driveways. these are the kind of things that get passed when ""the people"" do not take their responsibilities to watch their govt seriously (like going to city council meetings) |

People's driveways are made up of all kinds of surfaces and they should be able to have any kind of surface for their driveway anyway. I don't get it? |

City mice are more likely to set up sho in your home than an over grown lot. Fleas and mosquito are parasites that go where they can find food, in city environment your yard would offer more food. |

I live in the city. This house was two houses from me. The last time it happened, my dog got fleas. I don't have mice, btw. I want to keep it that way too. Like I said, it makes the whole street look bad. Would you want your children playing near it? |

If we lived under the ocean Winx would expect us to mow the sea weed. ![]() ![]() Why? Just because I don't like it when a house has grass 2 to 3 feet long and the house is two houses away from me? |
