Topic: Obama...‘Miranda Rights for Terrorists’... | |
---|---|
Miranda rights are read to let those arrested know of their 5th amendment rights and different states have things different. that is why the Geneva Convention is best for no US citizens during war. they have rights internationally instead of the US/States laws. make sense or do I need more coffee???? lol Makes sense to me, and is what I understood to be true as well. As far as I can tell, reading someone their Miranda rights doesn't actually change what their rights are anyway. the voices in my head (Ed and Maria) agree with this too) ![]() Nice couple that Maria & Ed, have to take them to dinner sometime ![]() I come with the package too lol |

reading someone their miranda rights...is a constitutional guarantee...forgein enemies / terrorists...are NOT US Citizens...and should not be given " our "...constitution rights... Why not read them? They have those rights and others anyway. Only difference is they are being told they have those rights. The Geneva conventions take care of non-us citizens pretty well. You think there are any terrorists out there that give a rats butt whether they have the right to remain silent? Our citizens have that right too, but we sure don't have a problem pushing them for information either. From what I can see it's really a pointless gesture designed to raise world opinion of our judicial system with out really giving anyone anything. And let's not forget, these are suspected terrorists, not convicted terrorists, a whole other set or rules starts to apply after that. if they are classified as POW's they actually don't have those rights so they shouldn't be read the Miranda telling them they have rights that they dont have POW's dont have a right to a lawyer for instance and they don't have the right to remain silent. They WILL be interrogated for information by every means short of torture (which now includes waterboarding) |

Hmm so if we got together would it be considered a foursome? ![]() |

They WILL be interrogated for information by every means short of torture (which now includes waterboarding) As I mentioned before I doubt there is a terrorist out there who cares whether or not they have the right to remain silent or not, but as I recall they are not required to give any but the most basic information. As for interrogation, we do plenty of that after US citizens are read their rights. Just because you have the right to remain silent does not mean you won't be questioned and has been mentioned our own law enforcement has not problem with side stepping rules on such things. So again I still don't see where it matters. I just see it as a ploy to regain some of our standing in the world community. |

you have the right to remain silent while you are being beaten. any thing you scream can and will be used against you you have the right to an attorney while you are being water boarded if you can not afford an attorney the worst one we can find will be provided for you. in ten or fifteen years LOL So what if we give then Miranda rights? It does sound a bit more human to me. And yes, we should be ttying these terror suspects and getting them procecuted as soon as possible. If they cannot be charged they ned to be released unless they are POW which is a different situation. they are war criminals. While I believe that we should charge them for what they've done, Miranda rights are granted only to US citizens/legal aliens, residents, visitors, etc. by law. Acts of war are a totally different ballpark. |

I think they should take all the terrorist here and elsewhere put them on a deserted island and use that island for practice for carpet bombing and atomic weapons testing.I also doubt if anyone would object if we threw in the ACLU,Micheal more,Rosie, and all the rest of the liberals who can't stand this country and want it destroyed.

Btw, I think Michael Moore is the way he is because he loves this country. |

I would win that vote in heartbeat. I will say it again this philosophy is what has made the conservatives the minority and strinking daily. It is a sick philosophy, you can't see that? |

![]() ![]() Yes, they were terrorists.. Except they decided that we should have the particular rights protected. The Constitution grants no right, it only protects certain ones. :~K |

I will say it again this philosophy is what has made the conservatives the minority and shrinking daily. It is a sick philosophy, you can't see that? I think it goes both ways. The sickness is not a conservative sickness, I see it amongst some liberals, too. And then you have conservative's like Colin Powell who, I think, would basically agree with what you are saying here. |
