My high was teaching a kick boxing instructor (woman) at my gym how to do an americana BJJ move..

She is a pretty good teacher (for what she does) but has no ground skills.. SO,, it was a natural high... I taught her after her student left.. We talked for about an hour on martial arts..

That is another name for a "Kimura"? Or is it a hammerlock? Over the weekend, I talked a woman and a man into letting me put them in an Indian lock, of course with the guy I applied just a little bit of pressure.

Yeah, it's another name for a hammerlock. The Kimura brings the arm in the opposite position but they both put stress on the shoulder and (sits muscles) in different ways.

Sits-supraspinatus,infraspinatus,teres minor,subscapularis

I find working with different practitioners that they call moves by different names. She wanted to show me a snap wheel kick.... but never heard that terminology... she called it a fan kick..*Grin* I can see the resemblance and didn't try to correct her terminology... I usually don't sweat the small stuff..

She took a style similar to karate and tae kwon do... I remember the moves in my early days and I still incorporate a small few... I am used to swinging past my target as in Mauy Thai and she snaps to the target then pulls back.. So, I will take the class for some cardio but I don't intend to absorb to much in her class as to create bad habits... (not that that will probably happen with my other training-ha!)

Indian lock- is that anything like a Indian rub to the forearm? *Grin*

Indian lock- Is that when we come to America, take their land and then lock them up?

The wrong way to do the Kimura- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-hyxTuh2YE This is why- He executed just about everything right except before you bring your arm over and sit up to trap the person on tops arm- you must trap the same leg with your leg so he can't roll out...Very common mistake and sometimes you can't put the leg on their leg if they have good posture. (But that guy clearly could have) He put the leg on the back instead of the leg, then the back on the transfer.. Mistake number two... Although you might secure the move without moving to the T-position on some guys.. Strong guys and muscle freaks will laugh in your face... Move methodically to the T positioned then apply the move... It won't matter how big he is at that point... I have seen 150lb guys put it on 260 pound monsters.. Jui jitsu works when it's done correctly for everyone..

This is one of the things that happens when you don't trap the leg. He can hop to the side and will every time if he is good..He can also summersault out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOs92hHjTeg

Take it easy brother...
