Who have you heard recently that really caught your attention? Please be descriptive, name dropping doesn't tell us anything about the band's sound. There's a UK band releasing their first album this month named Xerath. They sound like a cross between Meshuggah and Dimmu Borgir. Describe themselves as being Death Metal crossed with Film Score... Chug Score for short. Not everybody's cup of tea to be sure, but they definitely stand out. |

well, they released their first CD in 2007, but i'm really enjoying five finger death punch, yet another LA metal band. With guitarist, and founder, Zoltan Bathory, you know they have good things in store!

I love Dimmu Borgir and Five Finger Death Punch. I don't really know too much about them other then I love their music! I really like 40 Below Summer but they slip back in 07 I believe. I know Spineshank is coming back this summer.. their new cd is already out, haven't picked it up yet but plan to really soon.

Oh man... toughie... either Crossfaith's new release (Japanese metalcore mixed creatively with some awesome electronica stuff) or Gallows for Grace's new CD (The most brutal, technically proficient progressive deathcore I have EVER heard)
However, all of these will be blown out of the water when Viatrophy's new album comes out. Simply the best metal that exists, hands down - best songwriting, most energy, and overall a good balance of technicality, brutality, and beauty. |
