Who are they? Did they write some of your favorite philosophy books?

I'm curious because I'm really into philosophy ever since I took it last semester and I'm looking for a good philosophical book to read. I just want to get some outside perspectives, thanks!

I just received a book called Descartes Bones

It is a skeletal history of the conflict between faith and reason

written by Russell Shorto

It is about a grand and strange history of the 350 year long debate between religion and science - seen through the oddly momentous journey of the skull and bones of the great French philosopher Rene Descartes.

I will tell you about it once I finished reading it.laugh

Ross Perot

"Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown. "

My preference is for the ones that spread themselves over philosophy, psychology, and theology. Paul Tillich and William James are a couple of favorites.

I'd go with Muhatma Gandhi, everything I've ever read about him or by him I loved...

or Seth Rogen, a really true Canadian if ever there was for my generation.

Einstein

Yes, not only was he a scientist, but a philosopher as well.

I did a paper on him in one of my Philosophy classes.
