I was at my daughter's volleyball tournament today and watching her
shine in her element literally took my breath away.......she is only 12,
but already blossoming into a beautiful (athletic ) young lady.
Life is so simple before you have children and them BAM....your heart is
stolen by an angel. Only a parent knows how a heart can stop beating
when it is your child's moment to step into the spotlight with it being
game point at the championship game.....both times, she nailed it! I
felt as if I could fly and I think she thought she was flying...then
towards the end of the tournament, she was overcome with some virus that
had been waiting in silence to attack her. I wanted to scoop her into my
arms and protect her, but I had to tell her that because of how she
played the team needed her on that court. Tears were in her eyes, but
she understood that she needed to be there for the team. In my opinion,
that was a step towards building her character as a woman. Although her
face was several shades lighter, she did shine again. However, we lost
due to technical difficulties with coaching decisons..another
story
We (MOMS)ride their victories and feel their pain as they grow up!!
Watching her shine like the angel she is at the tournament was the
world's most perfect Mother's Day present. And now as I nurture her back
to top form, I am in my element......which is being a mom that loves my
kids, both when it is very very easy and when you have to send them back
on the court (sick) to stand by their team.......
