Topic: Create/Evolve Why Should It Matter? | |
---|---|
This question is for everybody?
We can debate the finer points of faith and science till the cows come waltzing in. What is the point. Dig through the past for clues to something that has no bearing on the reality of today. Is this not a waste of time. After all the diggin and point/counter point only one fact is crystal clear and indusputable. WE ARE HERE. Rather than pointing to the past and questioning why we are here point instead towards the future and decide what we are going to do to get there. I am sure that we were not created/evolved to carry our civilization backwards. So why not work towards carring our civilization Forwards and leave the past to our ancestors. One of our ancestors showed us the way. Since we can not determine with our best knowledge which is true in the knot of creation vs evolution. CUT THE KNOT AND BE DONE WITH IT. |

AB, you are such a doll. If it were only so easy. We have our beliefs,
and mine are solid. Cannot, will not change it. I'm happy. That's what matters to me. As it does to you. As for going forward, yes: let's do that. We have created technology that has thrust us forward yet backwards. We must take the initiative to fix what we have tested. That has in fact hurt us. It is hard to change what we have done, but it can be done. I'm all for going forward I'm trying. ![]() Kat |

If you believe in Darwinism, it doesn't matter.
If you believe in Creation, it doesn't matter. If you believe in OEC, it doesn't matter. If you are a Christian who is trying to rectify an existing belief in evolution with the belief that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, it matters. If you are a Christian who already believes in Creation and you are trying to offset the constant repetition of evolution science, it matters. I think it would be great if there was a stickyed post on Creation and a stickyed post on Evolution, both of which would only be posted in by proponents. So they could be used as resources rather than debating. |

You ask, “Should it matter?”
I like to know where I came from and how I got here. AB wrote: “Since we can not determine with our best knowledge which is true in the knot of creation vs evolution.” I disagree with your sentiment. Evolution is not even considered a legitimate debate by mainstream science anymore. That’s purely a sociological debate. From my perspective, the observation that evolution is how we got here is historical water over the dam. It’s just a matter of time before the masses finally accept it. The acceptance of evolution is no longer a matter of science, it’s now just simple a matter of sociology. |

I think we have to know our roots to know which way we are growing. The
problem is that we define our roots and growth differently. I believe in evolution with a fair share of mutation in between. Other people believe different, so it is a matter of finding our way, each by his own choice. |

What time is it?
I might be late for something.. Where did I come from? Who cares!!! I am here now... Where I am going is the question.. |

Don't take me wrong, I'm living very much in the now, I love it here. I
just look into the past sometimes for mistakes that I don't want to repeat |

If you got one leg in the past and one leg in the future then you are
pissing on today. The here and now is important to. In our griefshare meetings we have discussed that. Let the dead bury the dead. |

I don’t think that studying history is the same as living in the past.
But dwelling too much on an afterlife could be the same as living in the future. What’s wrong with this life? I’ve often thought about going to a ‘perfect’ heaven. The problem is that if it really is ‘perfect’ then it wouldn’t be desirable at all. What would there be to do? If you *have* to do anything then it wouldn’t be perfect because if it requires work to sustain it then it’s not perfect. And if you don’t *need* to do anything then what’s the point of existing? I think reality is about as close to heaven as anyone needs to get. The important thing to realize is that no one really dies! It’s a never-ending process of reincarnation. A perfect eternal heaven would be BORING! Life *is* the eternal heaven, and the POINT to it is to LIVE IT! Those are my answers, and from that point of view I have all the answers. What more is there to know? The universe is eternal, and I’m part of it. Period. The philosophy is done. All that’s left to do now is life the life. That’s the NEVER-ENDING adventure! Just because I understand the point to it doesn’t diminish the mystery or excitement of it. |

Wonderman,
You may choose to have two choices, which is your right. Me - my choices are infinite......... |

There are infinite choices, but only one is right.
There are infinite choices, but only two destinations. |

The only reason why it matters is that my tax dollars have to go for
paying for something I don't believe in. |

Spidercmb,
Interesting to meet you. For you, one is right. For me, one will be right. After all, I am only one person, although as I have many aspects, my choice more than likely will too. My choice is between me and the Great Mystery. Your personal dictate of choices does not enter my equation. It may or may not ripple effect mine, but it does not dictate it. |

I wonder why certain Christians feel the need to attempt to convert any
of us who do not believe what they do..and I wonder why they always play the goin to hell trump card.... |
