May God bless and keep you safe and truly out of harm's way. Thank you for doing what may seem a thankless job at times but know there are many who hold the military in the highest esteem.

Bro, you take care overthere. Don't make me have to kick yer butt. Cuz, I will. I wrote this poem a year and change ago, and it seems to fit in again now.. Soldier writing in his diary: Before I lay down for the night, I hope that everyone's safe at home. I have talked to God more in the past few months than I have in my lifetime. I ask for him to keep an eye on Mom and Dad, and my sisters Janice and Dianne too. I ask Him for guidance so that I may do my job the way that I was trained to do: swiftly and accurately, and to try to make a difference in these trying times. I pray to Him each night to keep an eye on my Brothers and Sisters here too, both those that I see everyday, those that I see from time to time, and those that I may never meet at all. I ask for Him to give guidance to my leaders, so that they make good decisions for us to follow, and for us to follow them correctly. I pray that the devil, disguised in a cloak, will leave this foreign land, and let these people enjoy what we have at home- FREEDOM. But mostly, I pray for Him to keep an eye of my Brothers here- Johnson,Saunders,Siok,Serrano,Masood,Lee,Chin, Cullen,Johannson, and SGT. Ruiz. They are my Family here, and they are the people that can save me when my time comes. Momma-I know that that I'm your only son, but if I should die here, know that I have BROTHERS. Mother writing in her diary: Dear Lord, I pray for you to watch over our son Calvin, and to give us strength if something were to happen to him. You know that we have been there where he is now, but that was 35 years ago,and thousands of miles away. It was a similar situation, and we were just kids then, just as Cal is now. He's a bit older than we were,James and I being 22 then, but in combat age doesn't matter to hostility. We hope that if he's hurt, You in Your wisdom, will give the nurses and doctors the skills to help him,and to heal him. If in Your wisdom, it's time to call Cal Home, we pray that he goes quickly and without suffering. We hope that his passing will serve as a reminder to his buddies to watch each-others backs more closely. He's talked to us in letters, and over the phone about how his squad does everything together, and that they are known as Ruiz' Rambling Raiders. I pray that you give Sgt.Ruiz the heart to do what's right, and that his leaders, including Cal, trained him well. Former Sgt J. Sullivan 4th Squadron 8th US Armored Cavalry, 3rd Armored Division Ohhhhhhhh....Sir John ~ Sgt J Sullivan ... Our very own Dear Elwood Sully . ..You are awesome thank you soo much for your splendid Military Service and for being here Always to support Our Courageous Troops I am so touched by your message & your prayers for in a day and age when so many people are so adamant about trying to leave God behind and vacant from the tender balance of our lives it is soo comforting & wonderful to know that very Noble Men and Women still roam about and God is still a big part of their lives Truly Rugged Badazz Men like Elwood Sully & Spaceman & Brigade & Grannithands You Guys are the true Heroes aqain and again deserving endless love & honor & respect yet it is so sad & so tragic to see so many times that you Our Troops are also so often greatly ignored & often so unappreciated too and that just completely breaks my heart And That is partly why i am so passionate & hold my fiery torch so extra high in endless love and total reverence for our Awesome Mighty Troops |

America's Heroes
Have you ever paused to think how much our freedoms cost? So many different wars, so many lives now lost. As we enjoy another day free to come and go, Let's give a word of thanks to all who made that so. To all the brave souls willing to fight, Risking their lives for all of our rights. Willing to go far from their homes, Willing to die in lands unknown. Let's never forget that December day When we lost so many on that Hawaiian bay. And those who carried the cargo said to end the war, Struck by a torpedo, the Indy would sail no more. And all the brave men on an island far away Who raised Old Glory once again, and still she flies today. All the unsung heroes of a thankless, senseless war Who fought and died so willingly; what was it all for? Through all the wars and countless places, They were there; these nameless faces. So, if you love your freedom, say thank you to a Vet, Their sacrifice was not in vain, and we shall not forget. By Jan Hartzog www.vanishingheroes.com Listed January 24, 2009 Written in Honor of my Dad, J.B. O'Dell, U.S. Navy 1943-1951, And For All of our Nation's Heroes Throughout History |

Navy Corpsman In the Navy, there is a most elite team, one that has a unique history, of sacrifice and service unequaled, a proud tradition past to present, of unsurpassed commitment to humanity, their heritage, every battlefield upon which they serve, respect and trust, justly deserved, always the first wave, going ashore, warriors they may be, but of a different breed, their emblem the Caduceus, symbolic, comforting, their training, relief of pain and suffering, every life saved, their victory Their record at war, the most decorated Corps, for heroism above and beyond, it wasn't glory that drove them on, it was the Oath, the one, all of medicine is based upon, the job of the Corpsman, whether a fleet sailor, or Marine on the scene, their unspoken creed, what they practice, in every way, let no man die on my watch today Day or night, rain or shine, dead tired or asleep in bed, whenever, wherever the need, injured, or just needing, a friend to confide, the Navy Corpsman, will always be there, worldwide By Mac McGovern http://allpoetry.com/mac_mcgovern Author's Note... A lasting tribute from the Marine Corps, whom the Navy Corpsman has the highest respect and honor to serve, Lieutenant General Chesty Puller, said it best . . . Pledge Of Allegiance, Revisited
I Pledge Allegiance a solemn vow of obedience, from the earliest age of grievance, when found deliverance, one people, united against, tyranny and intolerance, become the model, of democracy and tolerance. To The Flag the symbol of once colonization, come together in celebration, a new unconquerable nation, a successful castration, of oppression and dictation. Of The United States Of America a conglomeration, of peoples, form one nation coast to coast, a single relation, one voice, one oration, tread on me, expect retaliation. And To The Republic a democracy, its creation, the Constitution, its foundation, agreeable to all, in origination, fiercely guarded against demolition, militarization, and impregnation; over all these years, still on station. For Which It Stands the protector, of all oppressed lands, the world over, she lends a hand, her signature, her blood, in foreign sand. One Nation from sea to sea, whether rich or poor, some vocal, others, chose to ignore, those who guard the shore, those who knock on heavens door, one nation, esprit de corps. Under God in a time, when belief was strong, today, should not be wrong, having been with us, so very long, a few may sing, a different song, most will believe, as they have, all along. Indivisible one as a whole number, cannot be divided, by any other, many have tried, under guise, of brother, only to be denied, by the mother. With Liberty And Justice For All the means, to end, all oppression, infinitely wrong with transgression, succession, regression, and repression along. Our Pledge of Allegiance a pledge of a nation, a history profound, one indivisible number, all it takes, to be, no longer allowed. By Mac McGovern |
