No person does a better job at honoring our soldiers than you Vanessa. I am proud of our soldiers and I am even prouder of you. Thank you soo very much ... I am honored & humbled at such a sweet message & compliment ... but Our Soldiers deserve all the accolades For I am here to mirror back to them the love and gifts that they have so nobly given for me I feel that I have been called by God to appreciate them & to pray for them It isn't trendy or popular to thank our Troops and to remember our Fallen Heroes so many people are caught up in everything else but i realize that without our troops standing between us and the enemy our lives would be nothing of what we know it to be... i have never been a follower of fashion or trends ... & i refuse to give in to complacency I step up to the plate where it is needed and I believe that it is an extreme honor & a mighty priviledge to thank our troops and let them know how much they mean to us and something that may seem so trivial has monumental effects on those who are in the Service & on those who have come home from the war & to those who are active now in the war Or being deployed & to those who have loved ones still in the War... and to those who were in the war and who have lost family & friends Including my Dad who was being deployed at the tender age of 19 on December 2nd, 1943 ... the very day that his brave 25 year old Merchant Marine Brother was killed along with many thousands of other troops in a battle at Bari Italy as serious & as tragic as Pearl Harbor... I have done some research to find all that i can about the events that happened on that very sad dark day in the Adriatic Sea... and I have been sending packets of info to my Daddy & to my Mother for she remembers a lot of WWII also I feel the need to express thanks & appreciation to our Soldiers past & present whenever I can for we may not have tomorrow Their amazing service and dedication & hard work is & was for their loyalty & patriotism to Our Country & for Freedom & their love for Family and Friends and we cannot ever thank them enough & they can most definitely feel the love and concern we have or don't have for them I walked by a group of people including two soldiers the other day at the airport & i said thank you as i passed by and they stopped me and they said they appreciate my gratitude and the Mother of one of the young men named Nigel asked me to go over & talk to her son who was on the phone & having a tough time about leaving ... What an honor & privilege that was... to be sent by a grieving Mother whose own dear Son is going off to Boot Camp & one day off to a very brutal war... How Sad ! How difficult and yet they choose to go anyway I was very honored to be able to meet a couple of soldiers face to face & to really thank them in person & to hug them ... To see the pain & fear & such strength & determination too in those young eyes already ... is soo sad & it chokes me up every time i think of them & see them in my mind's eye His other Soldier Friend was named Grant and he was back home after five years in the Military. The look in his eyes was different than Nigel's for he had accomplished much in the last five years Grant had been through a lot of heavy stuff no doubt and he was very happy & relieved to be home safe... My prayers are with 23 year old Grant as he re~adjusts to civilian life Let Him meet only good people who love him & appreciate him and for the very young Brave Soldier Nigel as he begins his scary tour of duty Give Him Uncommon Strength & Amazing Fortitude & Much Wisdom Oh Lord Our God... Carry Him through the rough stuff without injury Let no weapon formed against him prosper ... nor against his comrades ever In Jesus' Holy Precious Name ... and in the name of all things good, righteous, beautiful, holy and just I pray ... Amen... |

I was thinking about you & these comments dear Metal Wing & forgive me please, for I forgot your actual name I wanted to say that i didn't mean to downplay your graciousness I am very happy & thankful that you & others acknowledge my efforts & intentions ... and even though i try to be as focused & as selfless as possible when it comes to these prayer & praise threads for the Troops it is very comforting & nice to be acknowledged & appreciated... Lord, this is Sully.
You know I haven't spoken to you in a few weeks, but I need to ask a favor from you. Two of my co-workers, Jorge, and Adam- Otherwise known as Sergeant First Class Jorge Avila, and Captain Adam Prosser - both US Army- are serving America right now in the Middle East. Could you keep an eye on them for me? If it's time for you to call someone Home... Call me. Jorge has young kids at home that he hasn't seen in almost a year, and Adam has a new bride that I'm sure misses his annoying laugh. |
