I think.........if we love someone.......we cant hold them back....... and we shouldnt if we love them truly. If it is reciprocated.......and they come back........is that love????? Yes and No. Some people yes and some no. Some come back because they love you. They others come back because they have no where else to go!! Spoken like a true co-dependent, Gypsy.

I think it's another one of those cliches that sounds good, or looks good on a poster with a picture of a butterfly or whatever; but as a practical matter, when I set them free, it's because I'm either bored to death, or tired of the domestication attempts, and I don't WANT them back. |

Do you think it's just words to make it easier to move on?
I think there is quite some truth to that saying. You usually don't hear that saying unless one person is not as commited in the relationship. Especially once you have exhausted all your options, and you still feel that they are not that interested. So best thing is to let it go for a while..move on. If they really care about you, they will come back, if not you didn't waste your time on someone that was never "yours" figuratively speaking, in the first place. |

Given that such a scenario sounds like a really crummy way to have a relationship, I say "let them go free" long before they forget they can fly... If they don't want to be there...bye! |

Hmmm. Doesn't this saying kinda tie back in with the one that says "You don't know what you've got till it's gone"? Let them go, move on with your life and when they come back on their knees begging - you can either try again or keep on moving. I believe in second chances but the third time is not the charm.
