The sex offender question...I guess that depends on the situation, I guess. There are so many different reasons why people get on that list so I guess it just depends on that one!!
The whole murder thing and then comparing it to soldiers..WOW!!! I think you went way overboard there!! All I can say is THANK GOD for our soldiers for defending us! So does that mean that my son is thinking about becoming a murderer? See I think every parent that has a son or daughter that serves in the military should be VERY offended!! |

I'm sure she meant no offense to soldiers... I took it as drilling down further into a simple "no" reply... Pointing out that "Killing" takes on different reasons/descriptions, etc. Just as others pointed out that "sex offenders" can be labled so for different reasons and some are not rape or child molestation... |

My late husband was a Vietnam Vet in those days you were drafted and you had 3 choices go to war, go to jail, or move to Canada. Not many good choices are they? He was one of the first ones in and did things he never wanted to do in his life. On his death bed he cried and cried because of what he did and on top of this when he came home he was spit at and cursed at and called a baby killer, and then on top of everything else for the longest time it wasn't even considered a war with no benefits or programs for those that had seen the carnage or been a part of it. I am against war, I am against killing but I am proud of all the brave that do what they are told to protect us and keep us as safe as possible. In answer to the question of dating someone that has a brother that was a sex offender, why should the good brother be judged for what the bad brother did? I would watch my children very closely but these days church is not even safe so they should be watched with any adult even a female sunday school teacher that is your neighbor.

Well...I actually know a registered sex offender. And as Joy said there are levels like 1,2 and 3 I believe. He exposed himself to an underage girl and has to register every year since. This was roughly 21 yrs ago. Hasn't happened since...says fights the urge all the time. He didn't touch anyone, but....nope..couldn't date him.

My daughter is in the ARMY and she is no murderer. A matter of fact a little girl called her..."Her Hero." |

unless it runs in the family, why not? while it is indicative of being fairly low class, it is hard to blame the guy for his brother's problems Sex offenders come in all classes. I think I would need to know the whole story before I made a decision. The label sex offender is used to cover an array of offenses, not just those involving children, so I think that is what would effect my decision. |

I would guess the guy disowned his brother and that in itself would mean that there would be no worries of the brother being around the kids... |

I have a friend that wants to be more than that and his brother is the sexual predator I speak of. I have a crush on someone else though. So I dunno... |

You can be friends with this person and pursue your love interest... Never question your feelings or hesitations in relationships.. I've learned that in the end I always knew and shouldn't have gone against what I thought in the first place... |

My daughter is in the ARMY and she is no murderer. A matter of fact a little girl called her..."Her Hero." I am a parent of a serving officer... and he has killed two people, in the line of duty, which he bought and paid for when he enlisted...... and HIS words are, that he is a murderer... Their...(my children's) father is also an ex serving officer, within the special forces... he's also a trained killer...it's also what he knew he was buying and paying for when he enlisted. Perhaps we dont sugar coat it here in Australia...The Gulf war was not our war, Iraq, Timor, North Korea, Afganistan, is not our war...we just have idiot politicians that like jumping into bed with other idiot politicians... I never say anything that cannot be referred back to me... my son is a trained killer... no two ways about it... he says it to me. <---- my two middle children, both serving in the Australian Army Cadets.... |

Do you think this kind of stuff has always gone on and was just hushed ot is there more of it now and it is talked about? It is hard to trust anyone around your children and that is just so sad.

murderers do it for pleasure, fun, and the plain fact that they are mentally f**ked!
My brother was in the army (currently works w the special forces, but a suvilian) has done 7 tours! My ex, 2month old baby's father, he hasnt seen yet(marine, currently active in iraq)3tours! (might hate him for how he did me, but respect him for what he does for this country) Yes they kill, yes they have been called the worst and best of names! but are they murderers?? hell no! That is their job, duty, and what they are trained to do. Does everyone enjoy what they do for a job??? didnt think so! They do it so we dont have to and to keep them over there and not on our land! Im sorry but calling them murderers is just an idiotic thing to say! Not trying to name call, but just really hit close to home on that! yes they might call them selves that, because they most likely all feel that way at some point. They are scared and it screws with their head! Love them, support them... our brave hearts!!!!! |

WOW that is a hard one. I would be extremely cautious and certainly wouldnt want to be around his brother. Are they close? I think i would base a lot of my opinions on how close him and his brother are and what kind of relationship are you looking for? serious or casual dating.

As a guy, I'm gonna tell you NO. Once a pervert, always a pervert. Being on that list means you are weird. Do you REALLY want to take the chance?

I would, but only if they weren't really in contact with their brother anymore...I agree that it probably doesn't run in the family.
