i think there's been a misunderstanding -

she's not suggesting that philosophy, the actual study, has failed us.

she's making a reference to the previous poster's philosophy. its a cheeky humor. visit www.failblog.org for more examples of this type of humor

^^ "philosophy fail" - lol laugh

i'm glad to read that people are getting more light hearted in this thread

btw - here's a new quote i've discovered that i feel applies directly

lol...

what shall fail???

how shall it fail???

what is supposed to happen???

is philosophy the same as religion???

this statement is as wisdom???

could it not be easily turned around, lol???

if you could reason with non-religious people, there would be no non-religious people, lol???

wow, that is huge wisdom indeed, lol...

since the statement say nothing but "religous people don't know as much as self, this reasoning most shall fail, lol...

why???

it is based on two eye's alone, feeling elated with making itself "feel wise", with words that speak nothingness???

can "two eye's", think itself ba as the guide, and bar of all perceieved good, and intelligence, in the universe, without as much as telling "why", and "how", lol???

the only thing this statement tell, is that house, and poster, think religous eye's are the problem, for lack of reasoning???

what created religion, if it is a problem, would be a good start???

what is religion, except one "group", thinking another is "lacking good reasoning"???

so, then create a following, and make this a "bar", or measure of good, for other's to follow???

how does this statement, not do the EXACT SAME THING???

so the statement is RELIGIOUS IN ALL ESSENCE???

religions are just "self belief", or group belief, as a diety, so a guide, for "other's fault"???

the kkk is religious man!!!???

the ucla is religious, toward it's own cause???

an atheist is religious, lol...

because it formed a "beleif, based on "another sec", or belief as "wrong", and it's OWN AS 'THE WAY'???

why, even in text, the "truth", become known as THE WAY???

how does not EACH BELIEF DO THIS???

now, if one see HOW, AND WHY, AND WHAT THIKING, CREATE THESE THINGS, THEN, IT CAN SEE HOW TO "SOLVE" THEM, OR ADD MORE KNOWING TO THEM, TO MAKE THE BETTER???

damn, and my hopes were all up for a cure of all wisdom for the world problem's caused by "lack of reasoning", in the world!!!

loooooooooong sad sigh, and huuuuuuuuuum, on that one...

poor, poor, poor wee little tiny insight, that think to "find another things as less", make itself wise???

Not really a "reply" but a statement I have been pondering for a long time.
I do believe in God, and I utterly despise any "God" who historically treats his "children"(us) the way he does
History bears out that this "God" is a cruel hatefull spitefull and quite honestly not a very smart individual.... And Jesus theorhetically "giving his life" for us is an insult to anyone with the brains of a Snickers Bar. Lets consider....If indeed Jesus was actually the "son of God" then it therefore was absolutely NO sacrafice for him to give his life since His real life was in heaven
and not here on our painfull planet to begin with.
As for "virgin birth" that is an easy one, even as a teen years ago
I knew how to have intercourse gently controlling myself so that I did not enter far enough to break the hymen...
When God gets mad at a person or people he dosent forgive them, he historically DESTROYS them along with anyone who happens to be in that city or place.....yet God tells us to "love your enemy", "turn the other cheek" etc. So In essacne God expects us, mere humans, to do that which He as a god is incapable of.

if any words in the universe, can't stand up to scrutiny, and make common sense, without blaming another as less, then how can they be proven as words of wisdom???

any words can be taken, and turned into any meaning, by a human thing, since the brain can prove what itself wish as true???

if one believe the sky is blue, and feel a need to be more "right", it will be compelled to prove the sky canont be pink as well???

if a "belief" is incomplete, most detected if it has to make other's as wrong to be right, then happiness shall be incomplete as well, as it will be based in only proving all other's as wrong???

the mysteries of the total knowing of all things, is simply not following a belief for self betterment of self, as such is but serving a belief for but self alone, and the deception that belie all happiness, but rather all happiness come most from following other people's as real, and valuable, and believing in other's MORE, than a belief???

what is more important, a belief or a person???

peace

ugh...

you know that cliche reply about 'leading a horse to water and it not drinking'?

i suddenly had the image of a man forcing the horse's head underwater for the shear frustration of the whole thing.

some of these posts are well thought out, and serve the conversation very well. other posts are great for some humor (and well needed).

then there's posts that just make no sense...like some kind of abstract poetry that nobody's supposed to understand.

*cough cough*

A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.

if all humans as people, are blades of grass in the large field called the earth, than each blade of grass that touch another effect it, and since all blades of grass touch another, all effect the entire field the earth, so one lie, change the entire course of mankind???

the wisdom to divide a lie from the truth, but come from all words as just equal data, no matter how the first inclination seem it to be???

anything that look to find love for the preservation of all as one, become one as a wise tower unto the skies, where all unknowing of the unknown does not exist, and all possibility become blended into one, wisdom unto infinite bliss of the past and present and future as one, the NOW, instant creation of all things human???

each piece of data a piece of the portrait of the universe and cosmos secrets, locked behind closed doors with the dark skeleton's key of bias, except for the heart that see all things human as equal, no matter what the mind may present as evidence and reality???

peace in, peace out, peace in, peace out, just as the breath of each human strive for existence???

philosophy fail.

i see see see, said the blind man, lol...

what shall "philosophy" fail at???

what make words "philosophy"???

is there a list of "words", that fall into the "sector", of philosophy???

are not all words just words???

would not the "thing", wished to be created, have to be known, to know if this was not created, or if there was a "failure"???

so, the motive behind the words, be the largest tell of what happen when speaking them, so then what is created from them???

so, why, shall philosophy fail???

anything, can say something shall fail, so the "why", and "how", is the thing most important to know why all things fail, at.......???

what???

if one fall of a bike, to see how to ride, was that a failing???

if one lay on the ground, and does not get up, is that the failure???

what constitue's "failure"???

is this "subjective", to each human in the world???

hum...

peace

it was a nice way of saying YOU failed at philosophy.

As I have stated b4, even "IF" there was a Jesus and he was in fact the "son of "god", Then considering the drivel taught by the sheeplike religeous masses, heaven is just that...."Heaven" hence infinately better than the world of man, (scuse me while I come close to dying of laughter), so if he "sacraficed" his life to leave this world and go to heaven......how much of a sacrafice is it to leave a horrible place in order to go to heaven???
I can deal with stupidity....stupid ppl just dont know any better...but IGNORANCE really chafes my @$$, Ignorance means you know better and yet STILL do the stupid thing!

Not to butt in but...

You have it all backwards concerning 'stupid' and 'ignorant'.

edwinmeyer's photo
Mon 05/11/09 05:28 AM
Factually, both words mean the same thing, (look them up)
although the word "ignorant" does imply as the root suggests,
"to ignore"

Uh Duh.....

Ok Next grammar class please.

sorry, english major butting in here.

If you are ignorant of something, you simply don't know it:

I was ignorant to her being vegetarian, that's why I made ham.

If you are stupid, you are lacking normal intelligence:

Because he was considered stupid, he was not allowed to join the military.

An intelligent person can be ignorant, and a stupid person can be knowledgeable.
