Zoos are sad times. You don't like the St. Louis Zoo, Polaritybear? Nope. Actually went last summer to see how I felt about it and it sucked. |

I am glad I could show you a part of my day! Glad I got to share it with you Chrissy! ..and everyone! It was fun!...too many people there but, I normally go early in the morning when they are waking up for breakfast....and I am the first one there...it is really nice.
I do understand what polarity is talking about though...I have seen some abysmal zoos. They dump money big time into our zoo it has improved dramatically. Besides....I would rather hang out with one of these at a zoo...than at my house..... |

Krupa, thanks for the beautiful pix!
One of the animal agencies I volunteer for is PAWS - Performing Animal Welfare Society. It was established by Kim Basinger, in a town about 30 miles from Sacramento, and they rescue retired, abused, or abandoned circus animals, movie animals and animals in the wild that are injured. I spend a weekend a month working, feeding, and being a lacky for elephants, camels, bears, monkies, lions, tigers, one black leopard, and other many animal souls! My pix are not as good as yours, but here are a couple from me. This was from an open-house we hosted last summer. I worked the silent auction. We had a mini a wine tour, and different bottles were available for tasting along the path of the animal habitats. My favorite character is the first pic. Aurthur the bear. He is an old, old, dusty bear rescued from the wild. He cannot be with other bears because he is just so grumpy. He was shot in the hip and left for dead. His hip was also broken, and it's assumed he fell from a tree when he was shot. If you talk to him, he grunts. I love him! Arthur the grumpy bear! Chester the monkey Alexander the black leopard Gypsy and Joseph the elepahnts Magic the tiger Ellie the lioness Silent auction Vendor area/ sponsorships Wine tasting along the tour Me, Charles, and Dee. Charles is the operations manager and Dee is my friend and fellow volunteer. |

Krupa and Meg, thank you so much!
I tell ya, there is nothing in the world that will ground a person like picking up elephant poop! I'm not allowed direct access to the animals (obviously) but I am so lucky to help them in any way. Glad you enjoyed my pix. This is a wonderful thread! |
