AB, please explain further - what do you mean by only getting half a
view?

Yes it talks about 'legal' immigrants, but in the proposed bills, they
both expect to allow approximatels 30 million in the next 10 years.
How many more is that, including birth rates, that the 178,000 per year
that would keep us in some sort of steady and predictable growth rate,
while still preserving limited resourses?

Red>

The half that is missing off that mans charts is the social security
system payments.

The baby boomers have a 'bubble' which is clearly visible in the center
of the chart after he puts all three charts up side by side.

That 'bubble' is to large for the social security system to handle upon
retirement. (people in that bubble are just now starting to retire).
The red area of the chart represents the legal immegrants that have been
allowed in or are proposed to be allowed in over the next ten years.

Those legal immegrants will be paying into the social security system.
i.e the read area on the chart will be paying the retirement of the
green area that is 'bubbled'. Once they have their retirements set up
they will proabllly lower the immegration rates to a more acceptable
level.

It was a clever move on the part of the baby boomers in the system to
ensure they are getting their portion of the social security base.

Like I said... Insure their retirement at the expense of our
grandchildren. (and the grandchildren of the legal immigrants they let
in with the inflated numbers).

Interesting Ad, I dont think that will work though.
First your assuming the illegals are paying taxes, some maybe, but the
cost on our tax system just from them being here far out weighs what
little they pay already. the cost estimates are out here if you look.
Also they are taking over the construction trades which has an honor
system for paying taxes and SS. Do you think they are mailing Uncle Sam
their share? I dont. Next the SS system does not need a temporary
solution that in the long run will only create an unending effect to the
current baby boomer SS problem. Who is going to pay for their
retirement, more illegal immigrant? Thats not a fix, and Im just a
pee-on. the ones in charge of the whole **** and caboodle are far
smarter than me. unfortunately, they are also the ones that worry the
least about a SS check. So you see my friend I do think about the whole
picture.

here in Australia, the Government has instigated a monetary benefit to
having babies...a total of 6000 dollars is paid over the first five
years of that child's life, tax free...to attempt to counter just those
problems of social welfare, and the huge numbers of baby boomers.

We will not have any form of government assistance with the aged, as the
population underneath can not support the volume of aged through tax
dollars.

Heaven forbid, we stop pouring money down Middle Eastern war's throats
and start looking after our aged...

Nope...

I know the illegals are not paying taxes.

I do know that the number of legal immegrants allowed into this country
(who are paying social security taxes) is enough to cover the boomers.

The illegals are not gettin money out of the Social Security system.
They are getting into the educational funds and the welfare system but
most of them are not getting into the retirement system.

That is secure for the boomers (though they will tell you its not but do
the math).

Notice on that man's charts where the green area peeks and begins to
drop back down. See where the red area is. The taxes from the people
that the red area represent will cover the 'bubble'. He was
extrapolating the numbers that will be present but he probally never
thought to tie those numbers into the Social Security system.

SS, is a loan system the money is spent for other programs AD. I used to
think it wasnt too, but then I read about it. The dept of Parks and
wildlife dip into it all the time as well as other agencies. They borrow
from it on the premise that it will be paid back, but actually it is
running a deficit. That is partially to blame for the problems in the
system, but only partially. Immigration at a controlled level is
necessary to stable the population, but paying people to have babies
doesnt work either jess ask the Germans, they have done it for years. A
lot of the problems with SS will eventually solve their self ad when the
baby boomers all die the pop begins to decline, and you will have the
opposite effect that you see today. SS will begin to have a surplus paid
in while the amount drawn will decrease with the pop. The hard part is
to get over the hump.

Once again though, I will remind you I claim ignorance to economics. I
found some interesting information while looking at WWII and FDR's
treasury secretary though and that administrations price freezing during
the war and how even though the so called experts said it would
financially ruin the country, it actually spurred the greatest economic
boom in our history. Check it out, I didnt spend a lot of time there,
because I hate economics..

AB, I have to agree with Fanta. It is true that the SS system is a red
line product, and many of the reasons have been mismanagement. For many
years its faults have been recognized, in fact for many years there have
been talk shows, news reports, political statements, whose intention
seems to be preparing us for the day when there will be little funds
available if any.

The influx of immigrants, whose intention is to set up a life here, to
become a citizen, at a slow and steady rate, would not deter from the
system that is already in crisis.

However, if every polotician who had it within their means to provide
for their own old age, were put into the SS system instead of on the
"you served, so you will be HIGHLY rewared" system and all the funds
that would have gont to their continued maintenence were diverted to the
SS system, AND, if the system became a trust once more, properly run for
the benefit to which it was originated, I have little doubt that it
would run in the black once more.

It all comes down to proper contols, logical thinking, and this backward
ability we have somehow given Federal officials to name their price, for
"serving this country". Those who have been "enlisted" server thier
country also with an ever present danger of loosing their lives. Those
who hold Federal office should never be entitled to more and maybe not
even equal treatment, for how much danger did they face, while flying
around is private jets and 5 star hotels while doing their duty.
Truth, take away the time these officials spend devoted to their own
elections, and how much more time do they devote to their "service" than
a devoted teacher??
