Topic: What are the chances | |

of someone actually stealing my accounts? I just returned a laptop to Wal-Mart, but I forgot to erase my save usernames and passwords, also there's an FTP program on there with my username and password to my websites. I'm thinking most likely the data will be erased by Toshiba, but does anyone know if there's a real chance that someone would actually steal this data? I don't know.

Do you have a back up of what you had on the computer?
I would change all passwords on account information. You never know who might be tempted with a "blank check" that you sent them. Dangerous |

The bad part is the comuter I got in exchange wouldn't turn on after I shut it down, so I had to return that one too, after I put some important things on it.

I'd say the chances of that happening are quite good, actually. All it'd take is for some thirteen year-old script kiddie to start leafin' around with some data rescue program to grab your stuff. |

Perhaps you should start some sort of testing regimen before putting things on these computers. Kinda suprized you had trouble with Toshibas. I hear they make the best laptops (unless you're a MacBook fan). I've got one and never have problems out of it. There are definitely chances of having things stolen, but statistically, these chances are very low. |
