I have a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5928 laptop I bought on Saturday, and I'm noticing a black spec on the screen, looks like a dead pixel, is the common with Toshiba systems? I have a one year warranty, so I should be able to get it fixed or replaced, the computer is only a few days old.

You would be stupid to mention that you have dead pixels. Keep in mind, that according to a manufacturer and a retailer, you SHOULD be paying for the privilege of having a non working LCD screen. Up to 3, 5, or 7 pixels!

So, either break it, or return because "you don't like it". Works every time. Don't even mention the dead pixel.

Yes, never mention Dead Pixels especially to a retailer, your best bet is to return item with a statement, "I would like to look a comparable item" they ask why... Keyboard is not performing as I like, lid is to flimsy, the finish does not match my USB toaster...

Also double check the little Model Number sticker on the bottom and make sure it does not have an "R" stamped into it. my Father recently purchased a Gateway laptop from an unspecified retailer and it too had a dead pixel right in the middle... turned it over the Refurbish "R" stamped in the sticker.

I told them it was slow and had a black spot on the display, so I exchanged it for the Acer Aspire 6930, which I knew I should have went with in the first place.

Most manufacturers won't even talk to you unless you end up with a whole row (or more) of dead pixels goin' on, as that's a fairly-common occurrence with LCD displays (or at least it used to be). You'd have to be going through some serious problems with your screen for them to finally get off the butts and do something for you.

It is not unlike as if car dealers accepted a following policy: "One nail in your new tire doesn't make it a lesser car. No less than fifteen nails and a cracked engine block for return."

I just went back to Wal-mart, and got an exchange. I go to turn my new Acer on today, and it didn't turn on, so I had to take that one back. I just got another Acer, hopefully this one is good.

Oh hell, you should have mentioned you got it at wally world. You could return almost anything there. I have worked there on a few different occasions. I have seen one year old TV's returned when the return policy is 90 days. *Management* Even seen someone return a crt tv box with a can of paint in it instead of a TV, he said that is how he bought it. Management gave him another one. slaphead

I love their return policy. You can even return things you didn't even buy there! laugh
