I was pleasantly surprised by Kurt Russell's performance. He wouldn't have impressed me as the best one for that role, but he was great.
"HELL'S COMIN' WITH MEEEEE!!!" |

One of my favorite parts in Tombstone is when Doc Holiday played with his whiskey cup doing tricks with it to make the crowd laugh.
Forgot the challengers name, but he chuckled at this before leaving. I also liked when they both spoke Latin at that moment. You can feel the tension between the two gunslingers. |

I actually thought Dennis Quaid played a better Doc Holiday.
He really had that whole lunger look going. |

I TOTALLY agree! It's one of the best movies ever!

I enjoyed both movies, Tombstone, and Wyatt Earp, but then i love westerns..I thought Kilmer did a better job, although i do like Quaid.
I often wondered about what was said in Latin, so i googled it just now. I am not clear as to the question of whether this conversation actually took place. Doc Holliday: In vino veritas. (In wine there is truth.) Johnny Ringo: Age quod agis. (Do what you do.) Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus Apella, non ego. (Let Apella the Jew believe, not I.) Johnny Ringo: Iuventus stultorum magister. (Youth is the teacher of fools.) Doc Holliday: In pace requiescat. (May he rest in peace.) Which i think leads to the line, "we started a game we never got to finish, play for blood remember" It was an excellent movie. In Wyatt Earp, i liked Quaid's performance as well. |

Tombstone is a 5 star movie and you are right it is little known.I saw it when it first came out in the movie theatres a long time ago and bought the movie later but if I hadn't seen it in the theatres I probably still would have never seen it.There was a time in the early 1990's when Westerns were the rage. The became very popular for a while and then just sailed off into the sunset.Another great western that should not be missing is called "the wild bunch".3:10 to Yuma was also very good.

Thought it was great as a kid, but the last time I watched it, I thought it pretty lousy. My favorite western is Once Upon A Time In The West. Best Val flick is Real Genius.
