kat....i hadn't heard of that before In an effort to find a cure (or so they said) of Hep they pooled bood from primates to make a serum and given back to humans then back yet again to a monkey. This new illness came to be known. In the early 70's this happend. These studies were to made on predominately gay men from New York and men in Africa. Ironically the same most infected places in Africa. These vaccines were also given to african prostitutes in order to get licensed. Monkeys hold a virus that is so close to hiv aids.Sevral differnt monkeys, several diffrent virus's....all with a link. The blood of infected mnkeys is also splashed onto humans when killing them for hunt or food. Then to eat an infected monkey comes another possibility. The has also been a link to polio vaccines in the earlier years. Kat |

No sex outside of marriage, no artificial birth control, i.e. condoms, Being faithful to spousal unit. Nothing new here. I understand that part. But..this is a health emergency. Yeah, well that motivates some people to change their sexual behavior, others not so much. I don't agree with the Catholic Church's stance but it is consistent with its other teachings. Yes, it is consistent with their teachings. I do see the health crisis that is in Africa though. |

she has the "vampire" type. many in the middle ages etc....mistook people with this condition as vampires. she can't go in the sun, has blood transfusions, and has even had a port in her should for meds. she has been on morphine drips and now takes the meds they give 3rd degree burn victims. her attacks feel like a very bad flu....she hurts all over and sick but no feve. my attacks feel like heart attacks....but they happen a few times a year and the longest it lasted was an hour. it disappeared out of the blue on the way to the hospital once

One thing that needs to be considered is the stigma to African people to even get an AIDS test. So most that are unfaithful in their marriages, don't even know that they have AIDS, due to not getting an AIDS test.

They have some testing but married men will refuse to have the test. I don't know exactly why... but there is definately a stigma to getting the test done. |

The pope is right when he says that condoms won't solve the Aids crisis. They have been passing out free condoms since this crisis began nearly 30 years ago.Do you really think a man who has been having unprotected sex his whole life is going to start using a condom? Not only will he be against using it so will his girlfriend.Couple that with a average life span of 35 years and you get a man with deaf ears.Condoms in Africa has not slowed the rate of Aids as any chart will show you.Even if a man does use a condom what are the chances that it is going to break,be defective,be expired,or left out in the hot sun to dry up and crack.I know personally condoms are unreliable at best.I remember many times condoms breaking and tearing sometimes even before starting.I think it's safe to say that using condoms to promote safe sex in Africa has been a total failure.
There is one sure way to stop Aids and prevent further outbreak and that is by not have sex at all.If the pope can convince people to not have sex with strangers and get married and have safe sex with their wife(who does not have Aids)then that is a good plan.I also agree that passing out condoms only tells these people that they should be having more sex instead of less sex. |

The World Health Organization responded at the time by saying that "These incorrect statements about condoms and HIV are dangerous when we are facing a global pandemic which has already killed more than 20 million people, and currently affects at least 42 million." The WHO said that "consistent and correct" condom use reduces the risk of HIV infection by 90 per cent. |

Winx we all know condoms prevent Aids and other STD's but my point is nobody is going to use them and they haven't been using them.Even here in America alot of people refuse to use condoms.Even prostitutes go with out using them. It's not going to solve the problem. These people need to get married and only have sex with one person. The most effective way that is going to happen is to go to church, follow the bible, and lead moral life.

since there is no cure for AIDS and nothing 100% effective....not sure what the uproar is about the Pope talking abstinence. It's his belief. it is the belief of alot of people....religious or not. if someone from another belief or an athiest wants to go to Africa and give their opinion....they are more than welcome to and it won't stop it any more than this one
