Yeah, like when I post stuff like this from research on the Bible, people just ignore it:

2) The first set of stone tablets was given to Moses at a subsequent trip up the mountain (Exodus 31:18). In this farcical story, Moses petulantly destroyed those tablets when he saw the people worshipping the golden calf (Exodus 32:19).

3) So he went back for a replacement. God told Moses: "Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest." (Exodus 34:1) Here is what was on the replacement tablets (from Exodus 34:14-26):

1) Thou shalt worship no other God. 2) Thou shalt make thee no molten gods. 3) The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. 4) Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest. 5) Thou shalt observe the feast of weeks. 6) Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before the Lord God. 7) Thou shalt not offer the of my sacrifice with leaven. 8) Neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left until the morning. 9) The first of the firstfruits of thy land shalt thou bring unto the house of the Lord thy God. 10) Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Keep this in mind next time you are tempted to boil a goat. This list differs, obviously, from the one in Exodus 20 (was God's memory faulty?), but it is only this list that is called the "Ten Commandments": "And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments." (Exodus 34:28)

I have a tendency to pass on reading words other than those of the actual poster. Especially when I see copied bible quotes. I probably miss a lot. These laws... these commandments have been used like cook book instructions. I tend to be a loose cannon in the kitchen (so I've been told) and prefer to veer as far away from outdated rules/contexts as possible.

If each of us is mostly seeking self validation, of course we'd routinely ignore each other. We're blind to each other. Lone atoms waiting for something outside ourselves to spawn any chance collision.

If I had never heard a cogent debate about ID, and evolution I would still hold weak ideas as being true.

To me its extremely important to engage in discussion you never know if someone will one day reflect on there reasoning.

There is always a chance that you are wrong. Not to allow for that possibility is simply ego, not faith.

This is indeed the brainwashing aspect of the religion. Christians brainwashing other Christians that it's ok to LIE and say that you are SURE about things when in fact the TRUTH is that you KNOW you can't be sure.

This is outright encouragement to LIE and go against what you KNOW to be true. (i.e. you can't KNOW anything for sure!)

In fact, I hold that the whole religion demands that you LIE to God!

According to the Bible you must acknowledge that Jesus was the Son of the God of Abraham. Yet it's not even clear that Jesus himself ever even actually implied that!

Not to mention that the gospels themselves are just hearsay.

If I were going to be HONEST with any creator, I'd have to say that I SERIOUSLY doubt anything in the Old Testament, and can't see how Jesus could have possible been the son of the God that is being referred to in the Old Testament.

Anything less that that HONEST would be a LIE.

So to become a Christian I would need to become a LIAR.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe in a conflicting book that appears to me to be written and distorted by mortal men who clearly had an agenda to use the concept of a jealous angry God to strike fear into the hearts and minds of the masses.

That's the only REAONSABLE conclusion I can possible come to concerning the Bible with all HONESTY.

Therefore, for me to "accept Jesus as the sacrifical lamb of the God of Abraham" could never be done with sincere belief. It's IMPOSSIBLE.

And that FACT proves to me beyond any shadow of a doubt that the book and stories can't be from any God because this God would have made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to be 'saved'.

So clearly it can't be from any decent righteous infallable God. It's fallable in the most OBVIOUS WAY. It CAN'T be true. Period.

And that's my HONEST assessment.

So basically the Christians are telling me that I can't be HONEST with God and be "saved". But how could that be?

I can't be.

Therefore it can't be true.

As far as I'm concerned that's an open and shut case.

A person like me would need to be dishonest to claim to accept that the Bible is the word of God. I could never accept that with any sincerity. Therefore I can never accept that Jesus is the sacrificial lamb of an angry jealous God who behaves like an immature spoiled brat.

Like Bill Maher would say, "That Religuous".

you hit the nail on the head there. It is more fun to debate opposing viewpoints and sometimes it is just fun. A belief in God comes from ones heart and mind and can never be forced. A christian can plant a seed but can't make it grow

That is precisely why I engage in such debates, becuse they are very interesting and/or amusing. That's the whole point. Otherwise, attempting to reason with the religious fanatics by using logic is like trying to clap with one hand.

no one will ever prove there beliefs or non-beliefs...or disprove the same things. people want to argue for fun...plain and simple. insults and attacks from any side are not a good debate. it's nothing more than children in a sanbox complaining that someone stole their shovel
