Ive always kinda liked Putin. The way he crushed the muslim revolt in Chechnya, knocks off journalists that are critical of him, and puts white collar criminals in jail. He is the kinda guy that isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

That's true, that his name could be made sound funny even that way, by being associated with "to poo". However, there are a lot more normal, regular words on "to put" side of the pronunciation, then on "to puke" one.

In Russian, his name means " one who puts", meaning the one who makes other to feel lost, as in a forest. In other words, his last name could be literally translated as "The one who deceives".

So, there it is. Personally, I haven't chosen my last name. So, I am paying no attention whatsoever, not only to Putin's name, but even to Obama's.
