How long can you love someone who doesn't love you back? I did it for years... so I guess it could go on for forever if you don't wake up and smell divorce court. |

How long can you love someone who doesn't love you back? Simple. Until you don't anymore...and not a moment sooner, if ever. |

How long can you love someone who doesn't love you back? I would have to ask God about that. The answer is big--really big. |

Love unrequited is a painful, lonely journey that most of us have taken at some point.
For me, the love never has died. Once it was clear that he cared deeply for me, but did not love me the way I wanted him to, it just evolved into a deep friendship that I still cherish. At some point you accept that, move forward in your search for a love that is not one-sided, and allow your heart to experience something even better. You learn, you grow, and eventually you let them go....but the love remains. |

For no time at all, because its not love if its not mutual. Its a crush. Unrequited love isn't real love, love takes two people, and forms over time.

For no time at all, because its not love if its not mutual. Its a crush. Unrequited love isn't real love, love takes two people, and forms over time. I respectfully disagree that unrequited love is not real. To invalidate the depth of someone's feelings, whether it be for a parent incapable of demonstrating real love, or a person you love who can not give that special part of themselves to you due to their own issues, the feelings are real and the results can be very painful ~ and yet sometimes you love them still. It's certainly not how any of us plan it, but to only love what loves you back is safe and involves no risk. While I do not go looking for that type of love, it has found me a time or two; but because I want the love that is built by two people, over time, that is returned and can be sustained, I continue to try. However, that does not dimension the love I felt for someone very special that just could not open themselves up to it. Those who have experience that will know exactly what I mean...it is for them that I clarify the point that no love, returned or not, is invalid. |

How long can you love someone who doesn't love you back? I never love someone (in a romantic relationship) who doesn't love me .. if someone loses interest I naturally do too. I'm just weird that way. |
