2,300 isn't a large enough sum to mess around with. It could belong to a drug dealer or some little old lady. Turn it in.
The drug dealer might not be so willing to go and claim the missing money, and the little old lady most likely would. It's a toss up if you end up with the money when you turn it in. I agree turn it in.

Yeah, but the drug dealer might come looking for his money,,,and you.

That is okay with me! I made my decision based on integrity, if he's feelin frogy let him jump! If I'm lucky I could do my part to "take a bite outta crime"

Oh and I would hope the local law enforcement wouldn't give out my name.

I would have to agree with the others due to the large amount found. My luck if I did not turn it in it would either be counterfeit or from a bank and the bills were marked.

You see in that case if it was counterfeit and you tried to spend it no matter how much you try to convince the police you actually found the money. slaphead It would be like talking to yourself in and 8x8 cell. They have heard so many lies and stories of the kind when someone has bee caught passing off bad money and too boot they would find a whole sack full at your place.noway

So with that amount i would be on the safe side and in fact turn it in.

Now if it was under a hundred hey cheers for me I will treat my self with what I found. bigsmile

Let's up the ante here...

What if you found a briefcase FILLED with hundred dollar bills? I'm talking like a quarter million dollars or more.

I'd like to say I would be noble, but with that much cash I would probably keep it.

That's a good test of moral and integrity. A person could pay off some debt with that kind of money. If you kept it you should figure out how much in dollar amount a briefcase will hold and then buy a bad a** body guard that you can really trust. Good luck with that!

I think it would depend on whether it was in a wallet or not.

If there were some way to identify to whom it belonged, I bet I'd return it.

However, if it were unmarked, without a doubt I'd keep it.

If it was a wallet I would have a friend turn it into the police for me, I've stepped into the cop shop a few too many times over the years.

Now a briefcase full of money is coming home with me, its some payback for the couple the police took from me.drinks

If you take it to the police-they have a waiting period to see if its claimed then you can keep it if its not.... It's the right thing to do....grumble
: You found my money? Wow Thanks! Just joking...I'd turn it in if it were me.
