Why would you want to be Catholic? How is Catholicism traditional Christianity? Catholics don't even call themselves Christian.

I went to a Catholic church once with my ex. Don't speak the language.
And seriously, with the history and behavior of the Catholic church, past and present, I think they are evil incarnate.
If you want to be a Christian, read the bible and talk to God, not a church.

I happen to be one who has a fair bit of knowledge. I love protestentism, but they have abandoned so much tradition.

I have a fair bit of knowledge too. Actually a great deal in technical fields, just not much on religion. But when it comes to religion, it's my heart, not my brain thats talking.

I read somewhere once "For whosoever beleiveth in him shall not perish...". That's about all I need to know.

I also read this.

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted" (Luke 18:10-14).

It would seem to me that pomp and circumstance, tithing, rituals, etc is not at all needed. But if you feel the need to attend church for some other reason, do so. Just don't forget that it really is all about BEING a Christian, not looking like one.

BTW...the Latin term the clergy give themselves is 'pseudoChristos'. Any first year highschool Latin student knows that pseudo- is a prefix meaning 'false, fake, substitute' e.g. a writer that uses a penname is using a pseudonym, false name. Catholicism might have been, at one time, a legitimate following of Christ, but over the centuries, the Pope has been given 'power' that would seem to make him infalliable. And to the best of my knowledge, there was only one man who lived who was Innocent, and he got nailed to a tree. Follow not the dogma and tenents of a faith, but the Divine One the faith is supposed to represent.

The Pope is a "god" to Catholics. Prayer to dead saints? Prayer to Mary? Purgatory?

Many of the reasons I left the Catholic Church.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

Jesus is no longer on the Cross! Why do Catholics still have Him on it?

If you want to go back to "traditional" Christianity then you mean 1st century. I would suggest a Messianic, Hebrew roots, or anyone who observes the Sabbath. Yashua went to the temple on the Sabbath "as was his custom". The disciples all observed the Sabbath, shouldn't we?

The Catholic church is as far away from traditional Christianity as you can get! You need to read the post "Flee the Harlot Church".

But Christ also said (paraphrasing...don't wan't to misquote Scripture) 'I have come not to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it' yes, Christ was a Jew. Yes, He followed every aspect of the Law. But at His Crucifixion, was not the veil of the Sanctum Sanctorium (Holy of Holies in the Temple) torn in two, from the top down? There was no need to be under the Mosiac Covenent, as we were all accepted if we accepted in Him. In Acts was not the dream of unclean meat ment to be the Gentiles?

Are we free to break the 10 commandments? No. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can walk as Yashua did, and follow the law. Do you want to walk contrary to the way he walked, and follow the traditions of man?

can you say, honestly, that you have not broken ANY of the Commandments under Moses?

DON'T BE DISCOURAGED. LISTEN TO YOUR HEART AND TO YOUR HEAD. CATHOLICS ARE THE FIRST CHRISTIANS BUT WE ARE ALL CHRISTIANS NO MATTER WHAT DENOMINATION CATHOLIC OR PROTESTANT, RUSSIAN ORTHODOX OR GREEK ORTHODOX, ETC. BE SURE TO PRAY OVER YOUR DECISION. CHRIST WILL LEAD YOU TO YOUR CHOICE. YOU OBVIOUSLY BELIEVE DEEPLY IN HIM, SO GO AHEAD AND TRUST HIM TO LEAD YOU THROUGH PRAYER AND INFORMED STUDY.
REGARDS, JOHN

Nubby, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and be blessed.

I like the advice from Jack2562,

{{{miguel}}}

I believe as Christians we can all find the things that unite rather than divide and love one another as Jesus loves us.
