My son told me that Valentines Day wasnt a real holiday so he wasnt going to get me anything!! 
I think Im going to burn all of his socks!!!   
tell him that neither is his birthdays since the post office and banks aren't closed. so he can expect nothing when his birthday rolls around. |

that isn't what Valentine's Day is about at all Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men — his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.
According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl — who may have been his jailor's daughter — who visited him during his confinement. Sell what? The fact that I think Valentine's Day is just another day disguised as an opportunity for commercial gluttony, so card stores, gift shops, jewelry stores, candy stores, florists, and restaurants can all bring up their profit margins in one fell swoop? Mmmkay, but I thought this was the perfect thread for it.
