Topic: Favorite Book? | |
---|---|
Posting my answer to the "What's your favorite thread" question, caused me to realize the question "what's your favorite...(anything)" makes me a bit dizzy w/ options.
Then, I realized that, there is one category in my life that has a chosen one. And, that is books. My favorite book is The Secret Life of Plants. Out of print, but available in many libraries and 2nd hand book stores. Do you have one, a few, many books you absolutely LOVE? Care to share? (I'm a relative newbie to the forums, pardon me if this topic is retread # 10, 088.) Do tell! |

My favorite is John Updike's "Rabbit" series. Also a huge fan of Douglas Adams, Nietzsche, Ayn Rand, I could probably name 50 more without even thinking about it. Elmore Leonard is the best author I've ever seen for pure dialogue.

Elmore Leonard is the best author I've ever seen for pure dialogue. That would be 50 entries worth my time! Would sure beat some other, ahem, authors I'm reading in here (counting me, of course... ). Yes, RIP Dr Updike . I love Ayn Rand too. Think Joan Didion is another worth my time. I've also been hearing tell of this up and coming, forget, ... something Fonteyne? Yeah, that's it, Lex Fonteyne! Seriously, I'm going to have to grab one of yours. Grandma always scolds me for burying myself in research books, and not reading enough fiction. She feels it is the best escape from your own life, that I'm missing out on. Thought there'd be more recommendations and props by now.? Could use some fresh ideas for material. Maybe the bookies aren't here yet? |

The Pokey lil puppy by Golden Books!! Aww-, I LOVE this one too, true! I was hoping someone would mention a children's book. I'll never forget this compiled children's works, that I had as a most beloved treasure in childhood. Must have read it 10,000 times. Could recite almost all of it . My lil girl loved books more than toys, up to at least 3 years old. YEA Books!!! |

I'm impressed if this is you letting your guard down. ? Nope, this is real. It was one of my favorite books as a child, and it was also my daughter's favorite when she was a child. Read it to her every night at bedtime. I subsequently gave her my original hardcover copy. I also still have my original hardcover copy of Myrtle Turtle (somewhere). |
