I agree both Bush's decimated middle class america, Clinton didnt. we had a good economy. We had an inflated tech stock economy.. ;p Didn't mean to start a back and forth with you. But I never said Bush made the economy great. Sometimes there's more to life than money. At least for me, there is. In fact, for me, there is all the time. Life is so big and the principles that govern it so important that we can't keep thinking that success is measured by our pocketbooks. Not saying that you do, tho. Just blabbing to myself, really) Blessed are the poor.. I like that one. |

Good grief.. They had a lot of nice things to say about Hitler in the beginning, too. Took about 10 yrs. of the US watching from a distance as hundreds of thousands died before we finally stepped in, and I think we made a difference. How long should we have waited on Saddam (he needed a little longer, b/c of resources in that land compared to Germans, but I'm sure the anti-war movement would have freely given it)...We're supposed to learn from mistakes in history, not repeat them. There's nothing plausible to that tho. Why would we have needed to make him into a boogey man? What did we gain from that, other than the satisfaction of at least helping those people get on with a normal life? Mistakes should be called out, no doubt, and you're right in that, but to say that Saddam shouldn't have been taken out of power when looking at the entire picture has no merit. And we had no other motive than to make the world a better place. If there is one, I would love to see it. Funny when Saddam was serving his purpose we could have cared less about what he was doing..What did we accomplished by going back into Iraq. They had no military left. Hell we walked right into Baghdad! So tell me how we can leave!!! WE CREATED THE SAME THING WE WERE TOLD TO FEAR FOR 20 years. A unstable Iraq!! We cant pull out. Iraq could only fight Iran to a stand off when they were fully armed and had our support. Do you think they could now defend themselves without us? Could the control their own country without us? WE DIDNT WIN ANYTHING!!!!!! PS...I was in the Persian Gulf for 6 years. 79-85..I saw first hand the support we gave Saddam and had a pretty good view of the Iran-Iraq war!!! So, you're saying that he shouldn't have been getting the aid all those years. Can't say that I disagree with you) That is why were are stuck there. That is why we will never leave. Look at Japan and Korea! If you are telling the American people we are pulling out atleast be honest that we might reduce troops but we will never leave. We cant!!! No matter how you look at it it wont change... |

Im saying people dont understand why we did. Iran was and still is a formiable threat. What we did we did not do for Iraq,we had to protect our "Friends", "OIL" or what ever you want to call Saudi Arabia. That is why were are stuck there. That is why we will never leave. Look at Japan and Korea! If you are telling the American people we are pulling out atleast be honest that we might reduce troops but we will never leave. We cant!!! No matter how you look at it it wont change... So, we should have let Saudi Arabia fight its own battle against Iran? What do you envision being the answer to the problem, not just the problem itself? I'm honestly curious because sometimes it just looks like we're backed into a corner, and I sure the heck don't have the answers. |

For one thing we dont have the resources to do so. Our own military is stretched thin. |

The eskimos in Alaska.. this one certain tribe that still functions on tradition, still goes out once a year to a rough area of the river where the caribou cross each year. They wait until all the animals are barely making it through the deep waters and then they charge, killing as many as they can, all if they're lucky. Accidents happen all the time, just wish we wouldn't blow up and never take chances because of them. |

Yep.. wish they would have let us drill more years ago while they search out other resources. Yes, I think the Pickens plan has a good outlook. As you can see up there, tho. I didn't say oil was the only answer. But I also don't agree with piling a ton of money into it until we get the economy on the right path. Green trucks are going to be of no use to us if the businesses leave the country in the meantime, like they're doing now. There's got to be balance between spending and providing for the country. I still have a very uneasy feeling about govt. growing to do it all. I see this historical pattern throughout the countries to our east who give govt. all the power and end up with less in the long run. Wish the philanthropists of our day could get together outside of government and somehow fund the project itself instead of candidates' campaign funds. |

I agree with you. I have spoken out against the bailouts and stimulus from the beginning. We are heading into a depression and not far from it. Now with all this paper floating, the devalued dollar its not going to be pretty!!! If you look at the unemployment numbers we are not far of. Florida is at %10 but if you factor it the way they did in the Great Depression we would be at %16-%18!!!!!! So we will go into a depression with a worthless dollar and inflated prices on goods..JMO You are a great American) |

I know how to make it through, tho, and that's important. How to work the field, raise chickens, do my own plumbing and minor work on vehicles, lol..etc. I can pinch a pretty penny with the greatest of ease. |
