Who has seen Blue Velvet (1986) by David Lynch? What did you think of the characters and story? I saw it once a long time ago...it was pretty bizarre if I remember correctly.... |

Disturbing and bizarre. Not my cuppa, but then I'm not a David Lynch fan.

Blue Velvet is David Lynch's masterpiece and one of the best films of the 1980s...be seeing you

MUCH prefer Mulholland Drive. Surreal and unexplainable, no matter how many viewings.
Velvet? TOO cruel, guess that means true to life. I do LOVE Isabella Rosselini though... |

I'm not a huge Lynch fan, but this is one of his better efforts. The Elephant Man is better.
I love Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth. |

Superb story and casting. Surreal. Captivating.
Subtly disturbing. Obsessive compulsive. Fine. |

Subtly disturbing. Obsessive compulsive. Ah, I'd forgotten about that piece of it. |

I've seen the movie a number of times - had it on VHS, now have it on DVD.
I like the movie a lot. To me, the weirdest and creepiest thing about the movie is that it's a rather accurate depiction of the world's underbelly. The movie was produced to set a very realistic mood for the events and chracters involved - it's just as disturbing as being around that stuff in real life...... |

I would not say the movie is an accurate depiction of a healthy practice of BDSM, however. Its rather too warped for that.

Oh it's a sick movie...Roger Ebert gave some very bad reviews for it too, I recall.
