Have you lied on the forums just to spare someone feelings? Lied on the forums? What the? Why would someone do that?  Some people are complete wastes of time but you cant outright insult them to their faces though if thats what you mean.
that's not what i mean, i mean for example the rating thread 1-10 and you give an honest 3 and everyone comes down on you...saying that's mean! no it's not...i'm giving MY honest opinion. to someone else may very well be a 10, but people get pissed when you are honest |

i'm honest about everything. only one person has gotten mad at me over it, so far. i'd say i'm doing pretty well!
you should be honest. no matter what people want... it's the honest thing to do

You can’t purposely insult people even if they deserve it. Some people beg for it on here. I’ve had to keep it in check a few times. The other members egging you on to cut them a new one doesn’t help either.

That's one reason I don't participate in the "Would You _______ The Person Above You?" and the "Am I Hot?" and all of the threads where people want to be told how wonderful and sexy they are. If I can't say it honestly, I'm not going to say it at all. |

You are allowed to do that on forum because they are asking you to rate them. I am very honest also when it comes to those threads. I try to help them in constructive ways like how they can take better photos with better lightning. I’m not just mean to be mean. |

this actually pisses me off ... i went to those forums and answered a bunch of them one day.. i wanted HONEST responses. all i kept getting were people giving me 10's and saying they wanted to sex me up. now i'm logical, i know i'm not everyone's cup of tea... but nobody seemed to want to tell the truth. Absolutely -- it's FeelGoodFest '09 in those threads -- and how many of them are being honest and how many are just faking the whole thing? I have my own ideas on the subject. |

I can't see the use in lieing.
I think if someone asks for an opinion I am going to give them and honest one and avoid the whole "attention whore" trap. If that is the case that rest on them. When it comes to my opinions they can "take it" or "leave it" no skin off my nose. It is never personal because I don't discuss people and make abstract concepts/situations personal. Insults only have power if you really care what the person thinks of you. No offense but very few people on line will rise to that level with me. That said I think you can give and opinion with out it being and attack on the person. Especially if you think about what you say and if you word it right. It is important to use the right word but it doesn't always have to be candy coated. There is a big difference in "I think (insert behavior) will come off as (----) than You are a (----). Nameing a behavior is not name calling the person. Some people will not be mature enough to get that concept but the moderators get it. I have said it plenty but if someone is being annoying they are doing it for attention and "There is no punishment like silence for a fool." Talking about someone who is being stupid is too subtle for them to catch on. You completely ignore them they will go where they can get attention. |
