Have you got a link? That's a lot of forum to narrow down to one topic. Yeah, I had some fun with this one.... http://mingle2.com/topic/show/195514 |

This thread should be retitled...
WHY SOME OF YOU ARE STILL SINGLE. If you take offense to that so be it, ripping other people apart isn't quite the best impression to make to anyone looking to date you. Don't like someones profile, move on? Is it really that hard to do. Everyone always uses the classic defense "I'm free to give my opinion", well this is my opinion. Different people, different opinions.. and the world still goes on. The whole point of a profile is to give you some insight into someone you "may" be interested in. If you hate the one liners or the other garbage you see there, you just saved yourself time and effort. So be greatful every profile isn't picture perfect.. saves you the time of finding out someone was never right for you in the first place. Can't believe i actually read all the pages on this post.. so much bitterness.. Best of luck on your search for true love. |

Don't feed the trolls, Joe!
![]() All paths lead to the Tao. I am more concerned with enjoying myself and having interesting debates here than finding "true love." I think anyone who comes to the forum is already in that state of mind, because you have already lost hope for your immediate geographic locale. But yes, it is fun to debate these things. When people try very hard to build the conversation around themselves, it evokes your aforementioned right to opinion. So in that respect, it is probably a wise policy to think of the subject at hand in a more abstract sense than your immediate self. |

To be honest, personally, it really doesn't concern me if someone "may be interested in me", because that's not what I'm here for. There's more to this site than just "dating". Why is that so hard of a concept for most people to wrap their head around?

oh how bout the ones that have,"i'm currently going to school"ok your 38 years old what are you doing, besides that?

Why is that so hard of a concept for most people to wrap their head around? Well congrats. Perhaps you should read my profile and see why i'm here. You are correct this site seems to be more then just about dating... but if i want to see monkeys throw crap at each other, i'll go to the zoo. As far as it being a hard concept to wrap your head around.. i find it much harder understanding how people can be so bitter. If you can enlighten me, do so. |

Yeah should really edit that true love part out, more sarcasm then anything. Seems we are all here for differnt reasons. This gives me something to read after work and when i get home from going out. No dear, not bitter, just confused why so many people portray themselves this way. Also no i don't consider myself the nice guy.. i leave that role to others. ![]() sorry about the ![]() |

Actually, I haven't even replied to the topic yet. I think I should do that now.. here's a few things in a profile that I find very unappealing:
1. Bad grammar/spelling, to the point of being incoherent. 2. Slopping together a heap of cliche' comments and adding a picture, calling it a profile. No thought whatsoever. 3. Hazy/misleading photographs that imply somebody is too ashamed of their body to show it to people they want to know. 4. Anything that implies they are dwelling on previous bad experiences and relationships to evaluate them all. 5. Separated status. Sorry, but I think people in this situation should get their priorities sorted out before they start looking for more problems in that situation. 6. A bunch of crap information or ASCII art which is irrelevant to the person, who they are, or what they do. 7. Prattling on and on about hangups instead of listing what actually turns them on. 8. Too many personal details. It's foolish to divulge and disclose to perfect strangers. I guess those are the big ones, aside from what's already been discussed in this thread. |
