unions never ask for more then a certin % percent of what a company is
making thay should (the company) not make trylons of $ and pay employes pennys but ragen scared the unions if the president of usa can replace them, every co. in usa stated doing the same thing. if wen regan repaced the air trafic contolers every union man and women shoud have stayed home all of us just took a few days off we coud have prevented the destruction of our union. |

oh po democrats, everyones a victim, unions are outdated and corrupt now
a days more than when the mob controlled them. reagan, bush , bush , all better than the last few dems as president, but of course you guys all always right and the right are always wrong. the only real opinion is yours and im a cave dweller. cry me a river, find a union to stick up for you. doc |

Last time I was in a union I was struck by the knowledge they were only
interested in lining their pockets. Every time I got a raise my union dues went up. When we asked for a bit of help in getting better benefits we were told the union could not support any kind of walkout. Rank and file are no more then grist for the money mill officials all got paid more then I made. I applauded Reagen for his action against PATCO. Bout time someone stood up to them. |

Before, by a long shot.

I am better off under Bush than I was under Slick Willie. The stock
market just closed with record gains. Gas prices are a matter of supply and demand. We have had our head in the sand for years regarding this issue. There is enough oil in the ANR to replace what we import form the Middle East but the greenies won't let us drill for it because it might upset a couple caribou. There hasn't been a new refinery built in this country for over 30 years because everytime someone tries, the greenies tie them up in court for ages. As far as Bush doing away with unions, the unions did away with themselves. They keep asking for more and more outlandish gains and in return supply less and less productions. I was a member of a union for 16 years. When I finally left the Railroad and went out into the real world and stated working where I could advance on my merit and intelligence instead of my senority, I finally started making real money. The American Dream is still there, but you have to work your butt off to get it. Nobody is going to hand it to you |

I agree that unions have their downside, but I'd hate to see a world
without them. |

I agree with Abracadabra....I'm ashamed to be an American now...
I have always felt politicians were just crooked & immoral....but with Bush I feel they are EVIL ....we are in a very dark place and I'm not a democrat.....or a republican ....I'm ashamed to claim either party as having anything to do with the average american ideals... |

Let me tell you about unions.
I once saw a Union (Teamsters) attempt to uninonize a very progressive trucking company. After weeks of attempting to 'rally' the workers they finally got it put to a vote. They lost miserably. What everyone finally figured out was the teamsters were offering them nothing they were not allready getting from the company. Wages were the same, benefits were the same, the company had an employee council that had 8 employees and 3 managers to work out problems, and the company did not charge any dues. |

My Dad has been a member of the same union since 1948. He's long since
retired but he still pays his dues. Granted dues for a retiree aren't what they are for an active worker. When I hear him talk of the conditions he worked under when he first started I have to think most of the working population owes a debt of gratitude to the old time union members. |
