Topic: This BCS crap isn't working... | |

Another year goes by in College Football and we are yet to wonder WHY there isn't just one team to be the consensus/undisputed National Champion.
I'm a big USC fan, so I'll refrain from stating USC's case for being the Number 1 team. But I can understand those Mormon Utah fans for making a case to being the No. 1 team. And as of 30mins. ago, I can understand Florida's argument in their belief that they're the true National Champs. But why are these schools feeling the need to making a case of them being Number 1? I'll tell you why. Those money hungry commissioners of the major college football conferences and their paranoia of losing money, that's the real problem. Their usual excuse for not implementing a playoff system is because the extra games will cause the student-athletes to not focus on their studies. That could be a valid point, that is if EVERY OTHER division in college football didn't use a playoff format which determines a TRUE NATIONAL CHAMPION! It works for Division 2, 3 and god know how many other divisions are in college football. Why can't Division 1/FBS do it? This argument will go on for a good while. Who do you think will go down as the National Champion this year? Or will there be a co-champion, even? Discuss... |

I don't even care. When the universities decided to abandon sportsmanship for the almight dollar, I lost interest in collegiate sports and the athletes who play the games.

I believe USC will be the National Champions Nope, and we'll never know who truly deserves it since the current system will never produce a fair outcome. |

I am in no way a Utah fan and most likely never will be, but, in all fairness to the young men who go out there and play their hearts out I believe they should be national champions.
At 13-0 Finishing second in the Associated press and fourth in the coaches poll. I see no reason they should not be ranked first in both. But it's not about what's fair these days. Like has already been mentioned, it's all about the money. Gee, Imagine what these kids are being taught. |

I agree 1000%, Utah got hosed,it was bad enough being a Texas fan and watching 2 teams we beat play for the conference championship, (and seeing the OU fans on national TV making fun of us as well...awesome, class act there) it must be even worse to be a "ute" fan seeing as they had a quality schedule and handled their business week in and week out, which NONE of the other so called "championship caliber" teams (including my 'Horns..ugh) did. |
