do any of you make your own candy? My niece Kristen; 8 years old--wants me to make home made candy.--i have done cookies, cakes, & and a few other things--but, no candy yet. (Have you-all??)

we used to make peanut brittle... whenever you find out when and what kind of candy you are gonna make send some my way!

i am thinking , some kind of fudge.

Just remember to follow exactly what it says about the temperature. Too hot and it will turn hard, too cool and it will not set. The temperature has to be just right!

I've made it a couple of times, it can be a royal pain in the tuchus! Temperature is absolutely key, invest in a very good candy thermometer.

welllllll, i messed up. You-all are right the temp. has all to do with making candy. So, i will try again.(with a candy thermometer.)

BTW, for fudge that doesn't "fudge", you can usually use it as frosting or a dip for fruit, etc (like fondue). Doesn't have to be a total waste

not a whole lot..... fudge, divinity, confection mints, peanut brittle... i gotta great recipie for cookies that are more like candy called oatmeal carmelitas ohhhhh so good if u want it let me know

Used to make fudge, hard candy, buckeyes, coconut balls, and all sorts of stuff at Christmas and all of it stopped around 3 years ago. It gets expensive but actually my kids grew up and got tired of doing it. Now we just go shopping and get a good meal out.

So I just go to the soopy market & stock up on Snickers/licorice/KitKats & Icecream!
