awwww i remember the first 3 seasons of it where my daughter and i would watch it in my bed....the only tv that got that station... man i miss that!! but i got addicted she doesnt live here anymore and i still watch it..its a nice change for me....

Artist/Singers all have their style and I find that it is not fair to judge any of them on singing songs that are really not who those persons are. Not because you can't perform one style of music that you are not a good performer also I find it more a popularity thing than a talent one.

I also watch the auditions only now, I applaud anyone who goes there to try.

I'd rather sit through hours of incredibly bad karaoke than go through another season of "American Idol".

Hey, David Cook is FAR from "cookie-cutter no-talent". And what about Daughtry huh? Carrie Underwood? Carrie had the highest selling debut album of any female in country music history. That girl has some pipes. And so does David Cook. Daughtry and Carrie are both out winning AMAs and CMAs. David Cook is the first winner that I am aware of that actually had a say in how his songs were written. Give him a listen. Just don't knock it til you've tried it.

The dude redid Billie Jean, Eleanor Rigby, Always Be My Baby, classic songs! And you say he has no talent?! How much more original can you get? Archie just sang them like they were... made no changes to make them his own. He was boring week after week, I had to mute the tv when he sang. The only people that follow him are tweenies and grannys. Archie was a kid in an adult's world... he didn't belong there. His dad was behind the scenes telling him which songs to sing... the Idol people finally told daddy that he couldn't help anymore. And the only "NO talent" winner in this show's history is Taylor Hicks... his record label dropped him because he was so horrible. I'm sorry... but NO ONE goes insulting MY David Cook without hearing from me. America has only gotten it right 3 out of 7 times on this show, that would be Kelly, Carrie, and DC. Simon said it himself, the right David won... end of discussion.

Pretty sure, that's wrong. Archie may be doing good in the pop world like on RadioDisney where all of his fans tune into, but DC is on the rock stations... you know, where the cool kids listen.

I watch the show, I laugh so hard at the people who truely think they can sing. When tol they can't.....it's like the world is coming to an end.

Actually, Archuleta debued HIGHER than Cook.
And He is ALSO on all the main staightions. Ive heard him WAY more than Cook.

The significant fact that commercial success does not necessarily equal talent escapes so many people. These days the music biz is all about image and marketing.

There have been a few good singers that came out of American Idol, but I highly doubt we will ever see any ORIGINAL TALENT.

I've been saying for years that it is nothing more than America's glorified karaoke contest.

Yeah, but if you read the reviews for Archie's album, it flopped. And on the billboard charts right now, DC's album is at #18... Archie is at #62. Archie may have peaked at #2 but he sure as hell fell a lot faster than David Cook. Sorry, but Archuleta is going to fade away like Bo, and Diana DeGarmo, and all of the other previous runners-up. Anyway, get over it... he lost. The new season has already started.

I may be one of the few, but im excited about it coming on. The people on there do have talent and are brave to go through these harsh people to show the world that they have talent.

I think COOK is the one that is gonn afade away. The only reason he won is bc people that have NO CLUE about music voted for him bc they thot he was hott. Archuleta CLEARLEY had more talent.

Well, I guess that Simon, Paula, and Randy have no clue about music either b/c they saw something in David Cook. But yeah, I personally thought he was hot but that's not why I voted for him. I thought David Archuleta was a cutie too, but I wasn't into his voice. He was good, but I didn't care for him. I voted for DC b/c I was into his kind of music, I loved the rocker edge, his taking risks, he was amazing. But do you honestly think that the tweenies voted for Archie based on his voice alone? The show is somewhat of a popularity contest and a talent competition. And if I recall, all of the judges told David Cook that they thought he was going to win the competition at one point or another during the shows running. I'm done arguing with you. This thread is supposed to be here for people to discuss the show, not to bash the contestants and call people names.

And I'm not middle aged, I'm 20! Last time I checked middle aged started around 35-40. Just drop it. I honestly don't care anymore.
