my guess is that the little thingy isnt catching right. Sorry I cant remember what its called. But even if you lock the door and shut it and it dont catch a good gust of wind could blow it right open. Hey I just wanted to add in here yes this is scary, have you checked the attic door to make sure that there is no one living in there? OK I know thats pretty far fetched but it just happened to someone recently. Or just maybe coming over from aother apartment through the attic door. Sorry to scare you. holy crap, that is freaking scary!

OK.THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! HOW IN THE WORLD I LOCK THE DOOR OF MY APARTMENT EVERY TIME AND I FIND IT OPEN ,NOT UNLOCK ,O P E N ,FOR ABOUT 9 TIMES DURING DECEMBER .IT IS HAPPEN WHEN WE ARE HOME AND WHEN WE ARE NOT HOME . I ALWAYS FIND THE DOOR LARGE OPENED.TODAY AGAIN . I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE .AND I HAVE 2 LOCKS NOT ONE . I ALSO HAVE UP SOMETHING LIKE A CHAIN TO KEEP IT BLOCKED FROM INSIDE DURING NIGHT TIME .I GET UP AT 5 AM AND THE DOOR WAS LARGE OPENED AGAIN . WHAT DO I DO ? THIS IS SCARING ME

Not trying to hurt your feelings but your kids are just the right age to have been slipping in and out for years or have teenage friends slipping in. It is normal. "Good" kids do it and sometimes just don't want to own up.
Maybe even your Ex.? That would make me nervous and I don't even know him. It might not even be your son's but resourceful friends that enjoy the thrill of snooping in your home. Snapping embarrassing photos. Sometimes putting them on line. One of my son's friends snuck his girlfriend into our playroom for a "trist" and I just happen to go down to get a cross-stitch project and catch them. Kids tend to repeat what they get away with. The sleep walking thing could be a possibility. Is anyone taking a new medication? Or useing drugs? Since this is also a symptom of brain tumor or early onset dementia it is not something to ignore. A possible scenario being well into winter with so many layoffs is that someone is "Squatting" or grocery "Shopping" in your home to keep from starving or freezeing. If it is happening repeatedly it is possible they are useing your computer or phones and the bills just haven't landed. Have you noticed any wet towels. Sometimes the working poor are actually trying to bathe to keep from looseing their job. If it is someone known to the family the pets would not necessarily raise cain. On line you can see how to change your door locks yourself. It isn't all that difficult. Hope you figure out your mystery. |

do you have kids? are they messin with you? can you set up a camera? see if you can catch whats happening? |

well heres and old trick I use all the time..this is very scary this is true do something about it.but this should work if it don't you still have problems..find something you can place under then door knob while your at home..like a chair or a cane/bat..anyhing that is strudy..that way the door won't give....hope this helps..but maybe even call the police..I would be terrified..
