Topic: In memory of my son, Dwight Haines 10/12/77-8/18/04 | |
---|---|
My son was an avid guitarist. The bands my son was involved with, practiced in our basement. When their drummer couldn't make it, they let me sit in on drums and vocals. We had a very special relationship. My heart will forever have this hole in it, that I can only fill with memories now. His Fiance' went home from work on 8/18/04, and discovered him dead on the couch. The autopsy revealed that he died of an overdose. I can only imagine her pain.
DOES HEAVEN HAVE A ROCK BAND? Does Heaven have a rock band? Do musicians get to play? Do they hang out around the throne of God, and learn new songs each day? Are there “Heavenly” harmonics? Are their chords “out of this world”? Do they sing some heavy metal songs, or more “angelic” words? If musicians up in Heaven DO play heavy metal songs, I wonder if the man in charge joins in and sings along. If they do the more “angelic” type, Do they sing them all alone? Or do the angels come and sing along to make them feel at home? My son is a musician, Though he isn’t here on earth. I’m SURE he has a guitar up there, and plays for all he’s worth. I miss the music that he knew, The songs he used to play. One thing that keeps me hangin’ on, is that I know one day: I’m gonna go to Heaven, And hear him play his songs, And once again, he’ll be playin’, and singin’ with his mom! By Wendy Haines 9/9/2008 |

what a beatiful poem. I can feel your pain as I have lost a son too at the age of 25, very unexpectedly. It does get easier with time (it has been 7 years for me)...but the memories are what keep him alive. My prayers to you and welcome to the site.

I was moved by your poem...it gave me chills.
I love Rock and Roll, and I am sure your Son is rockin with the best of them, Morrison, Hendricks, Layne Staley, just to name a few. So many have been taken from us in this way, keep on rockin and never let his spirit die.... |

Wendy this was very touching and painfull to read. My heart goes out to you and all those who have lost sons and daughters. I'm one of the lucky ones. After six weeks in a critical care unit and month's of recovery I still have my son. I don't know your pain but after coming so close to loosing one of mine I have an idea of the pain.
Take heart, I'm sure God is looking after him and one day will unite the both of you so that you can sing together once again. |
