maybe its because we've had soo much c**p done to us that we take charge now! everyone is different-dont forget there are people who stay in abusive relationships cuz they're scared or just dont want to be alone. and fyi-not ALL control freaks are obsessive stalkers. just cuz i have 7 restraining orders-oh umm...i mean...so is it raining...err..umm

Either give them control or walk away. Its not worth the headache of taking the time to fight with people. A waste of time it is.

if the suspected control freak starts with the creative control out of boredom, then you know it's go time

ask them nicey to do something for you..to show that you are not intimidated. be patient. be kind.......dont let them bulldoze you.

If you give total control to a control freak, they'll suck the spirit out of you. Been there. Done that. Working on healing the spirit and getting it back....

Everyone seems to have a solution to the problem of control freaks but no specifics have been mentioned. Yet there are still lots of control freaks out there. They will use many tactics to control someone. Here are some of them:

Getting angry at you for not being or doing what they want.
Sulking and pouting.
Screaming and yelling.
circular reasoning... Yack yack yack all the time.
Physical brute force.
Fear of his or her wrath.
Guilt.
Sympathy.
"..Or I will kill myself." game.
"..or I will leave you.." game.
"..or I will kick you out and reject you." game
Or I will be mad and withhold my love.
Or I will be mad and withold sex.
Or I will withhold support or money.

Or I will take your children away.
Or I will take your whatever away. (anything you have and like)

I'm sure you who have been on the other end of a control freak can think of other techniques.

That is a very comprehensive list. I've been subjected to them all at some point.

I once knew a control freak who threatened to stalk me the night I decided I could no longer be with them. Know how I handled it? Marched my butt right over to my local police station and had them escort the person out of my life. No one threatens me or mine.
