Val, a friend of mine and Darla's came to us to learn to read the tarot but she is psychic. She uses the tarot but her readings are also psychic readings and she can see more than the tarot cards can even reveal. She sometimes pulls up names of ancestors and everything.

In fact, she uses her psychic ability to find her ancestors and has traced her family tree and verified it back for at least ten generations. She is a member of the Daughters of the American revolution who all have traced their family trees back to the Mayflower landing and beyond.

I have not gotten into tracing my ancestors either. But I do ask for their help sometimes just as the Native Americans do, in spells and things.

You know, I have never done that.....calling on my ancestors, I mean. Don't know why. I use Catholic saints in my spellwork.

I believe our ancestors have a personal interest in us and can help in times of need. If it is not our ancestors, it is some kindred and/or directly related spirits who do have a direct personal interest in us who appear as our ancestors.. so they could be angels or the higher self spirits.

My sisters have received help from our Grandfather, or so it seemed, when my younger sister had to make a trip from Alaska through Canada all the way to Colorado alone with her two children.. in the dead of winter. My older sister was taken via the spirit world by our grandfather to watch the process of the trip. It eased her mind of worry as she felt Grandfather was watching and protecting.

Well, maybe I will send out the message to my ancestors that I'm open to help from any of them that would like to give it to me.

That is a great idea.

I think it was some of our dead ancestors that brought me together with Darla and Val. We are all working on the Tarot card project together.

Darla's Aunt S and my Aunt G were very best friends. Val's father was married to my Aunt G. Val's mother was also my mothers' best friend. They were all very close, and connected and we did not even know each other. Then we all came together and discovered how connected we were through our ancestors.

There are no coincidences. That's very cool!

I walked my Labyrinth today!

I'm getting off to an early spring. I did some landscaping today trimming back a hedge that had gotten way out of hand.

In any case after I was done I decided to walk my labyrinth path in the garden area. There is still about 3 feet of snow there so it was more like trudging than walking, but the nice thing is that I left a trail so I could see the labyrinth path unfolding as I walked it. I was a little concerned that I might have been squeezing things too tightly but it turns out that it's going to be really nice. Just enough room, even more than I had originally imagined.

Another thing too is that I had decided to add displays for the 12 zodiac signs. And I have them laid out on my garden plans. Then I also added displays for the 11 heavenly bodies which also represent Gods and Goddesses.

Then when Aria asked about tarot I started thinking about adding displays for the Major Arcana and the symbols for the four minor suits. I started planning out their locations along the labyrinth and then started thinking that maybe I'm getting carried away and this will star becoming too noisy or crowed.

However, today as I walked out the garden path the distance between the existing displays is quite far actually, so I don't think it would be too much to add displays for the tarot major arcana to the mix. On the contrary I think it might fill in the voids quite well actually.

In the early going these displays will just be signs that I'll post with a picture and description. But over time I'm hoping to end up with concrete statutes and displays. This labyrinth garden will be a work in progress and will hopefully become richer with every passing year.

On the topic of Tarot

I've only begun to study tarot a few months ago. In fact, it was the artwork of Jeannie's tarot deck that drew my interest. I had been familiar with tarot before as one of my cousins is a tarot card reader. But I had never really thought about using it myself until a few months ago. At that time I bought six tarot decks, mainly to read the books that came with them. I also watch ever video that I could find on tarot. I see that there are many different ways of looking at tarot.

I've come up with my own system for using tarot and it's working well for me personally. I don't read for other people. If anyone were to ask me to do a reading for them, I'd probably just offer to teach them tarot and let them do their own readings. I don't claim to be socially clairvoyant. I do feel that I'm in touch with my own spiritual being, and thus I do my own tarot readings.

I've only recently become "religious".

And I mean that technically. Religious simply meaning to do things religiously (or dutifully, or methodically and conscientiously. And in that sense I've become quite religious in various areas of my life. Tarot has become a part of that religiosity, as has witchcraft and shamanism, as well as various other things, such as chakra balancing, and spiritual gardening. In fact, I have started the following six journals.

Each journal has a specific meaning for me.

But Penczak isn't my only teaching. I'm also using suggesting from Deepak Chopra and some other books I've been reading lately.

Notice that I've associated each journal with a particular tarot. I thought that worked out quite well actually. Each of these decks calls to me in ways that are associated with the studies in each journal. I've also listed the Chakras that are most associated with each particular journal study.

I realize that I only have six journals and there are seven chakras, but the chakra that is missing is the Love Chakra (or the Sacral Chakra). I understand why this is missing, and I'm considering starting a journal for this as well. I think the journal may be called "Animal Husbandry" though.

Owl have to wait and see on that one. I allow these things to evolve on their own.

I'm finding this system of religiosity to be quite illuminating. Every journal is a window into the soul. Of course there are exercises and projects associated with these journals as well. So it's an organizing system too.

It's very hard to find teachers but if you really want one, one will find you. I would start with the books by Scott Cunningham. Try Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner. Easy to read, not very long, easy to understand. You are free to ask questions here anytime you want. Everyone here is fairly knowledgeable on the subject.

I know. Definitely. Im sure there are others. Its just this one speaks to the Solitary Practitioner specifically. I know a lot of people who are interested in Wicca have the misconception that you must immediately run out and find a Coven. Thats not the case.

exactly. In fact, I think it's better to study alone for a while and wait to start with a coven for a little while.

There are other books, but none are so simple and straightfoward and easy to understand. It's just the perfect starting point.
