No WMD's in Iraq
No al Qaeda in Iraq until after we invaded.

For you Shrub lovers here here it is in his own words.

Let me repeat that just so it sinks in. No al Qaeda or weapons of mass destruction in Iraq when the U.S. invaded.

He does say Saddam was capable of making WMD's but honestly there are few countries on earth that couldn't. So I guess if being capable of creating WMD's is grounds for invasion then there isn't anywhere we might not invade.

Bush 'Not Insulted' by Thrown Shoes
President Talks With Martha Raddatz About Iraq and His Legacy

Clearly, one of the most important parts of my job because of 9/11 was to defend the security of the American people. There have been no attacks since I have been president, since 9/11. One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take ...

Raddatz: But not until after the U.S. invaded.

Bush: Yeah, that's right. So what? The point is that al Qaeda said they're going to take a stand. Well, first of all in the post-9/11 environment Saddam Hussein posed a threat. And then upon removal, al Qaeda decides to take a stand. And they're becoming defeated and I think history will say, one, the world was better off without Saddam, two, along with the Iraqi troops we have denied al Qaeda a safe haven because a young democracy is beginning to grow, which will be an important sign for people in the Middle East.

Raddatz: Just let me go back because you brought this up. You said Saddam Hussein posed a threat in the post-9/11 world. They didn't find weapons of mass destruction.

Bush: That's true. Everybody thought they had them.

Raddatz: So what threat?

Bush: Saddam Hussein was the sworn enemy of the United States. He had been enriched by oil revenues. He was a sponsor of terror. I have never claimed like some said that he -- you know, oh, that he was directly involved with the attacks on 9/11, but he did support terrorists. And, uh, Saddam Hussein had the capability making weapons of mass destruction.

I did not have the luxury of knowing he did not have them, neither did the rest of the world until after we had come and removed him. Raddatz: So would you have gone in anyway?

From what I remember, when the decision was being made whether to go into Iraq or not, Bush received intelligence from several sources that there were NO WMDs in Iraq.

Also, I don't think Saddam supported terrorist groups. Groups like Al-Qaeda posed a threat to his rule.

I hope more shoe throwing happens. It'd be great if Bush can never leave his house without risking being "shoed."

I say we send a party made up of minglers, no matter their political leanings, to Iraq to bring them to their knees and win concessions from all.

If nothing else we can serve as an excellent bad example!

Better than focusing on shoes...

Be more aware and never fall for divide and conquer mentality again. What will be remembered now above all things will be the shoes unfortunatly for Bush. I would not want to be him for the next few years as he examines his own heart. That is assuming he could do that.

Though his staunch supporteres might just help him to remain clueless and ignorant of the world around him while he avoids any real questions from the media.

I expect time will be kinder to him and we will write a less than honest review of him in the future, sadly.

Funny how those rabid posters who insisted that Iraq had WMD's and that it was the home of al Qaeda are not here saying... gosh we were wrong.

Not only do independent sources confirm this so does the President himself.

So, where are they now?

Where are the fanatical screaming insulters who said those of us who said this years ago were weak willed ignorant liberals who were un-American and wrong?

Bush at best was incompetent and wrong and at worse he lied to the American people and to the world.

Lies that we and others paid for in blood.

From his own mouth.

Maybe Shrub is a weak willed ignorant liberal who is un-American and wrong too?

I would say only semi incompetent. The decision to go to Iraq and depose Saddam was the correct one. And the military accomplished that within days

the incompetency came after Iraq was defeated and they didn't seem to know what to do with the nation afterwards

Semi incompetent. That's interesting. I remember vividly what happened and every single thing that his administration said right from the beginning and wonder where those same folks were, and where they got their news from that they missed out on so much of what was going on.

Just yesterday the news compared what Bush is saying now to what he said before in his own words on video, very instructive for those who missed it. But will they change their mind about Bush. Nope.. It's that old blind faith ... ugh

I remember folks being called ignorant and unpatriotic even inspite of the facts.

But no... we had to wait 8 years for the truth to come out of the horses mouth. They could have dealt the Saddam with out creating a mess like this one, but Bush needed to be well you know ......... , I am not in the mood to rehash what folks should have been aware of along time ago.
