You make a point. Maybe thats why we are in the mess we are in. Ever think of that? What controls everything in goverment? Could it be big business?

No, it couldn't be big business.

Big Tobacco? Almost taxed out of existance. The government gets more per pack than the manufacturer.

Big Oil? Almost taxed out of existence. The government gets twice per gallon of gas than what the oil companies make. They have also been called before congress to testify as if they are criminals for making a profit.

Big car? They are begging for handouts, they have been destroyed by unions.

The problem in government...in my eyes, it's the fact that politics has become a career. I would rather see businessmen, farmers, small business owners...you know regular people in congress / senate. But what we have is the same guy for 30+ years. That's not healthy. We need term limits on these guys. Put term limits on the congress and senate and you will see an improvement in the government within a generation. You will no longer see people who depend upon the money from lobbyists to get elected again. What you will see is people who will learn the position of the lobbyist and perhaps be persuaded by logic, reason and evidence rather than the fattest donation check.

How about the Pharmicuticals, Insurance, Mega Retailers and many more. You can not convince me lobbyist for those and some you mentioned dont control government. I agree with the term limits 100%. Needs done now on all Federal, State and local positions. That's the only way you are going to control big influences from Business and yes even the Church's. Our vote was intended to stand for us as a individual and not backed by anybody. Thats the power our vote was meant to have!!!!

That's a lot of exclamation points, so what you said must be true.

Pharmaceutical companies have years of red tape to cut through to get a single drug onto the market. Five to eight years and millions upon millions of dollars in testing is required. If they are controlling the government, why have they chosen to screw themselves?

Insurance companies? How are our policies focused on helping them in any way?

Mega Retailers? Oh, you mean Wal-Mart. I like Wal-Mart. They bring in lots of jobs, they supply low cost goods and every time they have moved into a community, the community is better off for having them. This has been show through several studies. Now saying that, they are prevented from moving into many communities, because people have a bias against Wal-Mart. If they are controlling the government, it would seem that they would be able to move into any community that they wanted to.

How about the fact that it is currently legal to take a baby on which abortion failed and put it in a room without warmth, food or comfort and wait for it to die? Because the abortion lobby won't allow the politicians in their pockets to vote against this horrid practice. They don't have to donate, they are large enough that many democrats wouldn't get elected if single issue (pro-abortion) voters didn't vote for them.

How about the fact that we have wild fires throughout the west every year due to uncontrolled forests? A wide road through many of the forests would prevent these types of fires, but that isn't allowed by the green movement. Once again a far left movement that doesn't have to donate, they can just refuse to vote for anyone who doesn't support their agenda.

There are lobbyists who control many politicians, but you would need to look at US policy to find them. But just playing class warfare and saying "They make a lot of money, so they must be bad!!!!!" will never find the real problems. In case anyone missed it, poor people and bankrupt companies can't give anyone a job. It's a good thing for a company to make a healthy profit.

That's interesting. Here several companies have gone out of business. They happened to be one I shopped at. Now all we have is Walmart and one other store that Walmart could not push out of business.

Walmart started out with cheap prices, but when all the other businesses went out, they raised prices, just as I had thought they might. Many of the products they sell weren't worth the cheaper cost and don't last long, so personally I think we end up paying more in the long run. Could be wrong but since I do buy from them out of necessity I can see how long things last and it ain't long.

I shop there because I have no choice but to shop there or not eat.
I don't know who is at fault for that, but it does suck that people that depended on customers no longer have any due to walmart. And those small companies didn't rip anyone off either.

It seems like you would be happier if people didn't have the right to choose which stores they shop in.

That ad hominem attack has swayed me to your cause! I am a moonbat (to moonbats who reject all logic, evidence and reason). Thank you sir.
