Topic: Child support questions | |
---|---|
I see it as a custodial vs non custodial parents - not male v female case. I have seen plenty of cases where the non custodial parent is found after years of searching, should that lessen the amount due (I don't think so) after all the child ate, was dressed, medical needs, etc. I see it as a financial obligation that should be shared - but thats only what I think and I know I am not in the majority. Responsibility is passed around like a hot potato (jmo). I say we just give the absent parent a good old fashioned kick in the ass, a wake up kick in the ass instead of all this hand holding, patting the backs of non custodial parents. Read a little re: Jebs plan's and he too is focusing on the father's roles. No, not a mistake, I will post the link of the site I was reading. http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Jeb_Bush_Families_+_Children.htm just by the assumption of this site, it is focusing on the father's roles - guessing he means the father will be the non custodial parent. *** edited **** tempt ahhh I think you misunderstood my post, I should have said I read a little on Bush's plan - sorry for the misunderstanding What most people do not realize or want to realize is that it is found that when child support is garnished, ordered by the courts, it has more of a chance of being remitted at all. As for the interest it gains while they hold it, don't truly see a problem, afterall, everything is business, the collection agency must be paid, the clerks must be paid, etc., rather they got paid with the interest collected from payments than else where. Checks are no longer sent to Tallahassee, everything is now done online. Just like certain jobs they hold onto a paycheck or two when you begin, child support is usually behind in remittance. Considering the extent and the time it takes them to find the non custodial parent, it happens. |

Say you're wrong about what? I'm getting lost here.

Im getting off of here before I make more of an azz of myself. All parents need to take responsibility for their kids!!!!!!! They need to be involve in every aspect of their child's life. Find out whats going on in their schools, with their friends, in your own neighborhood. GET INVOLVED and take nothing for granite when it comes to your child!!!!

I apologize tempt if I misunderstood - I was speaking regarding the custodial parent vs the non custodial parent with regards to the issue of financial obligation. Would never make a personal comment as cases are different.
sorry |

If you only new of the huge infux of people here in the winter you would even be more mad. I try and drive the very least I can during peak hours. I had a problem similar to that. When my child was going into kindergarten, I called the city schools to see about what school and transportation. The school for us was over a mile away. They thought that I lived close enough to school to walk my 5 yr. old there. WT?! We don't go there. |

not sure why a neighbor hasn't stepped in - pick up and drop the child off at school, for let's say a play date with kids...
both helping each other out |

Adj, I disagree with this statement of yours, "unless the custodial parent is recieving some kind of govt assistance they very rarely get involved in recovery of child support." They do get involved when the women aren't receiving government assistance. Some men are good at going underground. well i know a lot of people that the child support agency just turns a blind eye to and does nothing for and more than one of them are fathers and the mother is the deadbeat why is it every one says the guy is the one in the wrong your line """""""women aren't receiving government assistance. Some men are good at going underground."""""""" My apologies. I only know about women that collect the support. The men are not the majority from what I've seen on this site. Yes, there are men that did raise their children. I haven't met one. the reason that most people only know women in thia situation is the lopsided court system that do not give custody of the children to fathers what does the loose of a family cost how many fathers go into a deep depression after losing their family and their job performance goes down they miss work and eventually lose their job why is it no one wants to talk about these things how mush does it cost not to see your child come home excited about winning their game or helping them get ready for their date divorces should be a lot harder to get when children are involved children are the responsibility of both parents but everyone forgets children are also the privilege and enjoyment of both parents if the custodial parent is struggling with money well the non custodial parent is usually struggling emotionally if you want their money stay married if it is abusive then press charges for the abuse this having it both ways is full of crap yes some support is needed but if the govt says you can support a family of 4 for 700$ then divide that in half 2/adults that leaves 350 you divde that in half as 175 for the two kids so that makes 41 a week then you add the what 200 in food benefit that makes another 100 dollars to split so thats what 23 a week so support would be 64 a week or 275 a month and that is how it should be figured if the same family goes to dhs for help then you take away the adult shares and divide the childrens shares in half what the non custodial parent makes should not come into play unless they are not working and if they are working prove it get pictures you can complain all you want and say i am wrong but if you do not like the way it works let the other parent have the children you want all the fun stuff w/kids and make so the other parent can not afford to spend time w/kids well that is not right if you can not handle the responsibility then try reversing the situation and the courts should be looking at finances in deciding who should be the custodial parent as well as the other things involved |

The reason that I don't know about men in this situation is that I mostly know women.
You said, "if the govt says you can support a family of 4 for 700$" Well, then, the government needs to get up to the year 2008. There are two in my house. We wouldn't be able to survive on $700/mth. "If you want their money stay married" That's just wrong!!!!! "you want all the fun stuff w/kids" Do you mean the diaper changing in the middle of the night, the sick kid in the middle of the night? Driving them everywhere they need to go? Cooking their meals, shopping for and washing their clothes? Taking care of their schedules and more. I've done it by myself since day one. What you have suggested regarding child support in this thread and others are insulting to me. Edit: There I said it. I've felt that way for a long time. |

From another single mom who never collected a $0.01 in support and never received public assistance. Worked 2 - 3 jobs at a time to make ends meet. (((adj))) I agree the courts way back then did automatically issue custody to the women, but that is and hasn't been the case for years. as for feeling sorry for the non custodial parent - I do feel bad, just as bad as I feel for the custodial parent who has to see to their own feelings as well as their child(ren). Parenting includes financial obligation/responsibility - short and sweet, regardless of custody |

My ex and I have a 50/50 split, and neither of us pays child support. However, he and his wife just separated (last weekend) and my son is with my full time now.
Although my ex expects the separation to last only 3-4 months, I filed with CSEA for a temporary order. He will not have to pay a lot, but he should pay to ensure my son still has all that he needs. Daycare, food, utilities, everything. Each person makes those things go up a lot. I actually just put the CSEA letter in the mail. OP~ Call your local court, family or domestic relations court, and ask them. Don't ask for legal advice in the threads, okay? Good luck to you. |

Only thing supplied was personal advise, not legal advise.
then it took off from there |

Only thing supplied was personal advise, not legal advise. then it took off from there Yeah, I read that, but her question, the OP's original question, that was a legal question. That's all I meant. |
