I donate a few times a year and organize a blood drive at work. You should have something in your stomach before you go, but not right before. Eat about 2 hours beforehand and it might be good to stay away from fatty or sodium rich foods. After you finish they will want you to have some juice or a cookie, thats a good idea too.

i totaly got jipped.. i have only ever gotten a pin.. a blood drop with a cros on it..
ive never gotten stickers.. tshirts.. sports bottles.. nothing!!! 
oh well.. i still love to donate.. my blood type is the rarest and most universal.. so they always swarm around me like vultures.. but i cant donate for another 6 months due to my tatoo anyway..

I'm going to the blood donor clinic tomorrow to see if they will be able to take my blood this time I had steak for dinner tonight, but I was wondering what I should have for breakfast and how soon before I go there should I eat it? I don't want to faint or throw up or something 
Has anyone here donated blood and how was it? Banana prior too, regular meals afterwards with lots of water! |

The sticker said "Be Nice to Me, It's My First Time" That's cute! I work at a hospital so they have a drive on regular schedules so there is just enough time to be able to donate again. Painless and I have never had a problem. Well, one time I ran up a couple of flights of stairs right after and got a bit light headed! Nothing serious though. |
