Topic: Afghanistan Producing More Heroin Than Ever | |
---|---|
Maybe if the liberals here in America(which is no doubt probably heroin's main customer)would stop spending less time trying to get little or no jail time for drugs and make tougher laws and longer jail sentences we could make some progress.Canada passed a law a few years back making heroin legal to shoot up and even provided government sponsored buildings where they could get high.Needless to say drug use has gone through the roof in Canada since you can do pretty much what ever you want with out the police busting you. I also remember liberals whining a while back that burning poppy farms was "just a big waste of government money" and how the drug war should just be shut down altogether. Like Conservative don't do drugs. Drugs have no color, no social status, and no political party. Edit: Did you know, btw, that the kids with more money have more money in which to buy drugs? Also, haven't you heard? The jails are full with people that have done drugs. There are too many people in jail for doing drugs. There need to be more rehabs. |

the best way to stop this is to make all victimless crime legal
and make it truly victimless if you take the moneis spent to try and stop the drug trade/wars -- and incarceration costs then add to that the tax that would be added to the cost of such products the price would be able to come down there could be treatment centers built to treat those that over indulge and still have billions left for the budget of the govt to build schools (yeah right) and work on the infrastructure of the the country the idea of trying to control behavior by law enforcement has failed for centuries it seems no one wants to learn from the mistakes of the past do i like the idea of some one being able to walk into the local distribution outlet to pick up their drug of choice well i like it better than the local gang handling it and cutting it with poisons or other harmful things that are killing people i also like it better than a child being collateral fatality in a drug related drive by shooting how many black market tobacco/alcohol related issues are there in comparison it is time that we take the profit out of the criminals pocket and put it in the tax payers pocket |

Yeah that didn't work too good for Canada.Go to downtown Vancouver on any night and it looks like night of the living dead out there.Do you know how many violent crimes are related to drugs? It's no secret that drugs dealers also dabble in murder, illegal weapons sales, prostitution, gangs, and other related misery. You think the police not going after these people is going to make the streets safer? It's only going to get more people hooked on drugs who will probably go broke because of their addiction and will eventually turn to crime to feed their habit.Mexico tried that and the drug cartels took over the country.
You also seem to forget that Americans love to take things in excess and to the extreme. If drugs were legal it would be sold in every 7-11 like candy in a store. |

So much for the war on drugs. One would think with the good old USA on the job the drug trafficing would stop. So if the drugs are getting out what else is? hmmm terrorists maybe? Is the so called war on terror about as bogus as the war on drugs? Umm, without the U.S. military, there wouldn't be a market. They've been smuggling that shyte in to the U.S. for decades. |

Afghanistan now supplies over 90 percent of the world’s heroin, generating nearly $200 billion in revenue. Since the U.S. invasion on Oct. 7, 2001, opium output has increased 33-fold (to over 8,250 metric tons a year). The U.S. has been in Afghanistan for over seven years, has spent $177 billion in that country alone, and has the most powerful and technologically advanced military on Earth. GPS tracking devices can locate any spot imaginable by simply pushing a few buttons. Still, bumper crops keep flourishing year after year, even though heroin production is a laborious, intricate process. The poppies must be planted, grown and harvested; then after the morphine is extracted it has to be cooked, refined, packaged into bricks and transported from rural locales across national borders. To make heroin from morphine requires another 12-14 hours of laborious chemical reactions. Thousands of people are involved, yet—despite the massive resources at our disposal—heroin keeps flowing at record levels. http://www.darkgovernment.com/news/afghanistan-producing-more-heroin-than-ever/ And with all the brain injuries our soldiers are suffering fighting over in Afghanistan and Iraq, there's going to be more of a demand for morphine. |

Canada has a harm reduction drug program. Early evaluations of Toronto's drug treatment court show high rates of retention and program participation. Their drug treatment courts provide a more humane approach to minor drug crimes than incarceration. They support treatment for those with a history of incarceration. Imagine ....rehab instead of jail. |

Since when are only liberals into drugs... Whining is whining, conservatives are doing quite well with whining lately as well.... in fact your quite good at it yourself. |

It is a stupid thing to say. I've worked in a drug rehab. I've met mailmen, dentists, doctors, all walks of life and political parties in that rehab. I'll tell you what...I've seen people with money use the drugs more then the poor people. The people with the money have more to spend on drugs. It even happened to me in high school. I was going to school in an average neighborhood and my parents moved to a better one. A lot of those rich kids at the new school were high in class. I never saw it in my other school. The first day of school when I stepped off of the school bus, I was passed a joint. I couldn't believe it. My other school wasn't like that. Oh, yeah...that new school was full of Republicans too. But I would never assume "Maybe if the Republicans here in America(which is no doubt probably heroin's main customer". |
